Michelangelo Merisi called "Caravaggio" was born in 1571 in Caravaggio and died in 1610 in Porto Ercole. He had a turbolent life, he commetted murder in Rome. He also escaped to Naples and Malta. Caravaggio's style is called "Naturalism" because he painted flowers, fruits and ordinary people as they are in real life. In his paintings the setting is dark but he uses "beams of light" to highlight the particular actions and parts of the body of his characters. His art is called "Caravaggism".
