One problem faced, was trying to make the characters look the same from different angles and drawing out the same facial features again and again. I want to improve on making them look like the same characters even after they've been drawn slightly differently to what they looked like before.

I then worked on drawing different backgrounds for our animation, from different angles, whilst making sure all the colours and lengths stay the same. The only problem I faced whilst doing this was making the proportions the same and ensuring that the audience would know they were in the same kitchen and hadn't moved location.

We tried out different ways of making the characters. For example, we made our characters out of tissue paper just to see the pros and cons of it. One pro was that it would have been a unique animation if the background was animated and the characters were tissue paper. However, this would have also been quite difficult to do and seemed time consuming.

We stuck with the idea of animating all our characters instead, and drawing them with different expressions, e.g., Poppy the Pea eyes closed, Poppy the Pea eyes open, Poppy the Pea mouth closed, Poppy the Pea mouth open, and we did this so that we would be able to give them different expressions throughout the story.

We wanted an opening and closing theme for our e-book, so I used GarageBand to create a short 30 second song that would have appealed to children. I made the song a bit long so that we would be able to decide our favourite section and use that part for the beginning and ending of our animation.

We had six characters that needed voices including a narrator. As other groups were busy with their animations, me and Kat decided to voice all our own characters just making sure that we changed our voices each time in accordance to the characters. This proved a bit difficult, and we had to re-record quite a lot of script. But it was also quite a fun and satisfying experiences to be able to get voices for all the characters.

Using the Tascam, we were able to create sound effects for all the different characters and movements in our e-book. For Casper walking we brushed fingers up against a wall to create a sort of “swooshing” sound. For Billy hopping I created a popping sound using my mouth. And for the “boing” sound, we had to record it using an  iPad off of a website as we couldn’t be download the sound.

We tried out voice exercises as a way to ready ourselves for narrations recording. We were challenged to say the tongue twister “red lorry yellow lorry red leather yellow leather Blackpool pleasure beach Muhammad Ali” in under 5 seconds. Audio analysis - I think it will be a good idea to give each character their only little sound that can be made whenever they move. For example, Casper can have a walking sound, Billy can have a hopping sound and Poppy can have a swooshing sound whenever she rolls. It might be a good idea to have a boing sound  for when the characters flip off the spoon because this might really engage the children.
