This is the rough draft of two streams of consciousness that I did, which will later be finalised.

I am a 16 year old male, studying in college, and I don't understand why men don't have common sense when it comes to feminism? It's really irritating to me because it feels like something that should be known, it's not damaging you in any way, so why are you complaining? As a feminist it confuses me that men wouldn't want free period supies for women, why men would want to continue catcalling why men just view women as an object, because it's some sort of dangerous idea, it's basic human rights. It's so frustrating that a lot of women are fighting this battle on their own, and it would make a lot of sense for a man to be by her side and not tell her that she's got a nice body, or that she looks "fit", because women are so much more than an object, they're not some toy for you to mess around with. The education on this is poor too, because sometimes men won't realise this because they haven't had the education to do so.

I am a 16 year old male, and I think throughout my life, multiple things have shaped me as a person. I think that not only does it shape me but it shapes other people too. I think, as a teenager, that one of the main things that shapes us is social media. We did this by using our openings from out streams of consciousnesses, and standing in a freeze frame pose that relates to our topic. By doing this we are able to keep the audience interested in what each one of us has to say. It also related to Mobile by The Paper Birds because in that piece she is in a freeze frame when the verbatim occurs. 

I decided I wanted to hold up a protest sign, either imaginary or real, because it relates to me being a feminist and my pose looks captivating as it stands out from the others. In our current climate of politics where it all matters as well, I wanted it to be a statement as to how I was raised in a political environment to get the audience thinking about their society.

I had an idea to have Amelia stand on a box so that she stands out from the rest of us because she is playing Danielle so the audience know of her importance to the piece.

We did this with certain mannerisms like Deborah putting on makeup and getting angry at Danielle for wanting to spend time with her.

We altered the script a bit for this but it's only so it fits Danielle's age in the piece because we wanted her to be older as being a teen is an important part of your life.

This scene transitions from the end of the mother scene smoothly so the audience aren't getting confused with the narrative of the piece.

The set design was good here because we wanted to set it in a park as it's a common place for teenagers to hang out it, so we've got a fake park bench and a fake bin using boxes as our set. We wanted to keep the set simple because we feel that The Paper Birds don't have very extravagant sets or stages to work on and it feels more personal for the audience to watch. 

This scene wasn't changed much, with the biggest change is that it was cut down and I had a bigger part to say. This was so that the scene made sense as a whole and wasn't just something random that was just a weird incident in her life. I think that my paragraph of lines is really good because it's a direct attack on Danielle which would have shaped her life.]]> 2020-12-16 14:32:21 UTC https://padlet.com/298538/qdoqgoi3wm311sm6/wish/1024072683 298538 https://padlet.com/298538/qdoqgoi3wm311sm6/wish/1024179251 This part of the piece was very key to keeping the piece together too because it adds a dynamic to the story of Danielle and how she's being raised by a manipulator. We added in the policeman from the original script because the piece needed more depth to it and it shows how Deborah is a manipulator as she acts different with the police officer and social worker. To emphasise this point further I asked Jodie if she wanted to play Deborah in this scene too so not only would Katia not have to switch every time but it ensures that the audience can tell apart the fakeness between the two men. Danielle's part in this represents a beacon of truth to the scene because the rest of it is filled with lies. This demonstrates how she's still quite young and innocent enough to know that the truth can hurt but it can also be beneficial. We wanted us here too because we then continue onto the Jerry and Danielle scene.

Katia and I agreed upon that we should make Jerry more of a busy dad because this would have negatively affected Danielle's life as he wouldn't be able to make time for her, so we set it in a coffee shop where Jerry brought his work with him to meet with Danielle, so he's getting frustrated by her asking questions about moving in, something he should take seriously. 

The set is very simple as it is just three boxes aligned to look like a table at a coffee shop. Our performances in this are supposed to be reflective of Broke whether they use the boxes to present verbatim. These responses we felt were the most gripping and so we chose them to go into our piece. This scene really gives an insight as to what shapes other people than Danielle, real people too, so the audience can try and be empathetic with the people we are acting as. To make us more distinctive too, we decided British accents we're the way to go because they made a better performance overall and was less boring to watch. We decided that Adam, Jodie, and Katia would use their streams here rather than Amelia and I because we needed to read ours out by the Jerry and Danielle scene as it would make more sense for Amelia to come in later and for me to enter when I've got a key part again. -This is best because this way the audience get to see the real me and they know how to differentiate between my characters and myself.

LEON = Welsh accent, somewhat deeper than how I normally speak
-I went with a Welsh accent for Leon because he uses words like "butt" in the script that make him sound quite Welsh. His voice is deeper than mine because he sounds more rugged when he speaks, and has quite a powerful demeanor in which I want to portray with his voice.

POLICE OFFICER = Standard, slight RP accent, stern, but possibly more young and new to the job. 
-I picture the police officer as a younger man because I think because of his laid-back energy he has with Deborah that we devised for the scene, it makes him feel a bit new to the job where someone more experienced would be less likely to slack off and flirt with Deborah. He feels a bit more on the middle class due to his lack of slang when speaking and the demeanour that he presents. While this could be true to his job, he feels quite relaxed when talking to her and so I think some of his speech sounds more formal. 

JERRY = Welsh accent, middle-aged voice which sounds more serious
-Jerry uses the word "love" a lot and I think that feels like a Welsh thing to say. While a lot of the characters have Welsh accents I think it's important to try and keep to the character I am portraying on the script. He's a dad so it's fitting for him to sound a bit more serious and a bit more middle aged too. 

VERBATIM = Essex accent in a higher tone, a good energy to it
-I picked this because I think the person is quite bubbly and I feel the need to portray them like this and keep real to them and who they want to show on stage. 

General notes to remember:
-Speak loudly so the audience can hear you, even when whispering
-If you mess up your voice, continue as if nothing happened
-Stay in character and remember to show emotion in your voice
-Gestures and physical acting helps with voice acting
