It is said by NBER or National Bureau of Economic Research (2020) that the people working at home combined with the unemployed workers caused by Covid-19 has driven the increase of electrical consumption in residential homes and a decrease in commercial usage. In a more precise note, it is said that there was a 10 percent increase in residential electricity usage, a 12 percent drop in commercial usage, and a 14 percent drop in industrial usage according to Steve Cicala (2020)

Another problem concerning electric power generation is its stability. Accidents and natural disasters can ruin posts and cables that lead to power interruptions at home. As a result, productivity at work and academic studies are compromised especially during these times of pandemic where all of us rely on electronics.
