What are your thoughts and opinions on flexible seating? Pros and cons?
How do you have flexible seating during COVID?
What do you think flexible seating looks like in an elementary classroom v a high school classroom?
Do you think administrators would frown upon this set-up since it is not the traditional classroom setting?

I'm all for flexible seating it can create an environment that allows for creative thought but teachers need to be open to their classrooms looking a little different than what a traditional classroom looks like. Pros helps with movement/focusing abilities for students cons can lead to student distractions.
Covid seating has been tough because of the 3-6 ft distance requirement has caused a tight squeeze in rooms that were already limited in movement space. While I love alternative seating I think that it can take up a lot more space than traditional seat
I definitely think there are differences between the types of alternative seat options at the high school level versus the elementary level. I feel like at the elementary level those students are looking for more yoga balls and sensory seating to help them stay focused while high school students are looking for more function of the space/seat. is this a standing space so I can stretch my legs and continue working, a beanie bag so we can chill and have discussion in a less formal manner, do the chairs allow me to lean back? do they hold my posture up? How does that serve me in meeting my goals.
I think that admin with old traditional mindsets can get confused at learning models that allow for such freedoms, but they need to learn to try new things!
