1. Fishermen in the past: used rafts, dugout canoes reed boats to fish in the ocean and made from tree bark. They also used net to trap the fish. Fishermen go fishing at night cause it is more quiet.

Now fishermen use trawlers boat so that they use trawl net to trap the fish. Fishermen can go fishing in the morning and late evening while the fish are more active.

2. Farmers used wood and iron knife to turning and leveling the fields. Somehow they also used animals to help them plow the fields, like buffaloes and cows. Fishermen dried the rice by using the sun. They should prepare more times to plant the rice like two weeks needed to preparation. The rice seedling selection also must be tested for the good quality.

Now farmers use cultivator which is a modern farming tool so that they can plow the fields. Cultivator has the plowshares which are plugged into the ground. Farmers dry the rice also still using the sun. They should not prepare for a long time due to highly technology. The modern technology is not only saving time , but also can choose the best quality of rice seedling by itself.

3. In the past everyone did not use technology to communicate because it did not exist yet.They use smoke signals, pigeon post, and snail mail. It takes a lot of time and energy just to inform or to tell something . People then started to find more technology like a useful telephone so that they can hear clearly, does not take time and faster. Now we can even send messages and media to Whatsapp and other social media.

Indonesian people believe in the old sayings and mythical creatures. Western people believe in science and knowledge.

1. Fishermen past: 🎣
In the past, some fishermen attach a wire loop to the end of the rod allowing for a running line. Rafts and canoes are some of the oldest fishing vessels ( Boats ). Fishermen in the past go fishing at night.

Fishermen now: 🎣
The most common form of recreational fishing is done with a rod, reels, hooks, or any wide range of baits and lures. Nowadays, they also use trawler vessels ( Boats ). Fishermen nowadays also look at the weather app to know when and what time is better to go fishing.

In the past, farmers did not have all the machinery that now exists on farm and there wasn’t someone else to do the work for you. Farmers in the the past usually use an oxen and horses to plow fields. When planting rice, they have to use their power. The common method of drying rice in the past was sun drying. Some of the utilities that they use in the past is:

Nowadays, they can still dry rice like in the past, but mostly now they use machines or other methods.

Some of the most common methods of communicating in the past were using fires, smoke signals, and even horns to capture the attention of others. The telephone and the telegraph are also some examples. But of course, using these methods may be a little slower and not portable.

Everyone nowadays use gadgets, as they are portable and fast. In gadgets, it is easier because we can call, text, or even email that easy, basically all you need is WIFI.

Indonesian culture is more traditional, knowing that we have many arts, languages, temples, celebrations, religions and etc. Indonesia also still maintains cultural heritage.

Fishing was invented back then at 40,000 years ago, since the past 16th century, fishing vessels that was used to pursuit fish into catching the bait. Were changed at the 19th century because at the time, people could make larger fishing vessels so they can pursuit even more fish! Fish back then was also caught by hand, spears, nets, angles, and even trapping the fish was also a technique in the past 40,000 years.

Fishermen are now more smart, the technique they use is fishing, instead of catching it with their hands in the past era, they use fishing rods, which was invented by Samuel Phillippe in 1846

Fisherman sometimes fished with their hands and even used a method of fishing called spearfishing which use a spear made out of wood or stone to pierce through the fish to capture it. Another difference is that western is usually more individualistic while Indonesia is usually more family-oriented. Fishing back then is way different from now because the hook back then was made out of bones . The past boats were smaller and I think you had to paddle it.

Fishing now is easier and fun now because you don't have to paddle but instead use an engine . Now we use metal hooks instead of bones. Now the boats are bigger and faster.
