Dora- Dora is the sister of Sylvia and looks out for her family by checking in on her sister during the day towards the end of the book.

Mother- Mother is the mother of Sylvia and Dora. She helped Sylvia not go to the Concentration camps by hanging a sheet when the Nazis are close and takes it down when they aren't.

  •  Hava and Itka are sent to the Concentration camps.
  • Hiding in the hole to hide from the Nazis. The Nazis come and pull everyone out of their homes.  
  • The list when they had to go to the left side not the right (the left side is going on the train. The right side is where they didn't go on the train.) 
  • Where the Jewish kids were hiding in a cellar so they didn't get captured.
  •  When Sylvia eats a pear and loves it, so much so that she took one for her sister. 
  • Then when they hide out at the red house. 
  • When the bombs hit and the Russians came to save them.
