We just met our 4th grade buddies and had an opportunity to model what a good mentor looks, feels, and sounds like. Let's reflect on YOUR behavior and leadership. What did you do well? What can you improve for future meetings? Did you follow our Tribes agreements? "In the future, I pledge to..."

In our first meeting with our 4th-grade buddies, my behavior was pretty good. Our buddy got little off track and we had a small conversation, so I hope to improve that. My leadership was good I could have done a little bit better job. What I did well was keeping everybody on track for most of the time, I also got to know our buddy, last thing I did well, was including everybody. Some things I could have done better are not getting off track, better leadership, making them feel at home. I was following the Tribes agreements throughout the meeting. In the future, I pledge to be a better leader and to keep everybody on track.

In our first meeting with my buddy, Gwen, I think I was a pretty good role model. For example, I was honest, I worked with her and if she needed help I helped her, I also was myself. I think these things were really good that I did. I think sometimes I might have gone off track, In future meetings, I might ask her what she likes and dislikes to see what we have in common. I followed the Tribe agreements and I think overall I was a pretty good role model. In the future, I pledge to stay on tracks and not get off subject.

During the time with my fourth grade buddy I did well with trying to teach him the concept of the growth mindset. In fact, my partner didn’t understand the growth mindset at first so I told him that if he had a growth mindset he wouldn’t think “Oh I can’t do this.” but instead think “I can definitely do this!” In the future, I want to improve how much I can block out the activities of the people around me and my partner so that they aren’t distracting us while we work. I want to complete this goal because of how we performed with Mrs. Rooney’s class yesterday (today is 12/15/16). I want to complete this goal by the time that we have another class group and work together to understand another subject.

In the future, I pledge to help my partner, whomever they are to understand the subject that they are being taught while blocking out the activities of other groups.

I think I did well in showing him where to find stuff on the back to help you if he don’t get it but that was it. But we did not follow the tribe agreements like one of them were active learning to the teacher. In the future I pledge to work on that and learning to the teacher when she is giving the steps about what we are doing today and trying to be on task.

Yesterday, we meet our 4th-grade buddies. In my group with my buddy, we worked together and not separately. Therefore I didn’t do all of the work and neither did my buddy. I made sure she was having some fun but still, we stayed on track and worked hard. My buddy really liked it when we had some extra time to color our Growth Mindset sheets. I made sure that I was always attentive listening to my buddy to hear all of her great ideas. I also had mutual respect when she was sharing some of her interest and ideas for our worksheet. For the next time that we meet, I will modify some of her ideas if they aren’t quite what we are looking for into exactly what we were looking for. Overall I think I was a pretty good role model.

In the future, I pledge to make sure my buddy is still having lots of fun while staying on task and to help her with anything she may need to get her back to where she needs to be.

Yesterday, we met with our 4th grade buddies. We had a great opportunity to show what it’s like to be a role model. I think that my behavior overall was good, but I could have improved on a few things. What I did good was I kept my buddie on task and made sure that we didn't get off topic so we had a little time at the end to chat and find out more about each other. I also did well on teaching my buddie what growth mindset is. At first, she really had no idea of anything about it. After we read the sheet and I explained more, her and I were able to get some pretty good examples. I think I followed the tribe agreements for the most part: I could have been a better attentive listener. When Mrs.Reuter was talking, I should have put my pencil down and had my eyes on her. Next time, I will definitely set that example for my buddie. Overall I was a pretty good leader and I did set a good example for my buddie. In the future, I pledge to keep my eyes on Mrs.Reuter and pay full attention to her and set that example for my buddie.

I got the work done and interacted with my buddy Anya. I had a fun time. Next time we meet I will try interacting more. I will get to know my buddy rather than just talk. I think I will treat her like I would treat kids I babysit. It will help me be more happy and fun. As well as allow my buddy to have fun with me. I do believe I followed the tribe agreements well doing the activity with my buddy. With that said, I pledge to in the future interact with my buddy more. Not just friends around me. I will do this well and know I have done well when my teacher gives me an update on my behavior with my buddy. I also pledge to be a great role model for my buddy.

Some things I did well are attentive listening, Mutual respect most of the time, and appreciations. Some things I need to work on are Mutual Respect because at times I would not do what is expected of me in that category I also need to work on no put downs because occasionally I would say something not very nice and put them down. So in the future I pledge to have mutual respect all the time and not put any one down.

On Wednesday, we saw and met our fourth-grade buddies. I believe that when our buddies were here in our class, I did good on helping out my buddy with Growth Mindset and explaining to them what it meant. It seemed like my buddy got what I was saying when I was talking about it. I think at future meetings I could try to get my buddy more engaged in what we are doing. When we saw them, my buddy seemed bored and really wanted her to have fun. I tried asking her if she wanted to help but she even said she was bored. Next time, when we see our buddies, I will try to make as fun as I can for my buddy and I (while doing the group activity). I believe that during the meeting I did follow the tribe agreements of Attentive Listening, Appreciations and No Put Downs, The Right To Pass, Good Groups, and Mutual Respect. I think I did these because I listened to what my buddy had to say and I didn’t say anything mean, I just suggested things after she was done talking. In the future, I pledge to, try as hard as I can to get my buddy and myself engaged in the activity we are doing.

During our first meeting time with our 4th grade buddies we were not the best class we could of been. Of what I did I thought I was acting fine, I was listening to what my buddy had to say, help out my buddy on what to write on our sheet, and I made sure that me and my buddy were doing the right thing, but we couldn’t find out what to do until the we got help from another, Lyda and her group help us along with Mrs. Reuters help on what to do, because me and my buddy were lost. In our future meetings, I think I could work more on being a role model of knowing what to do and problem solve faster than before. I think I followed attentive listening, mutual respect, appreciations and the right to pass along with good groups, I think I did this because once me and my partner knew what to do we were on task and working well. In the future, I pledge to get working faster and have better control of what me and my buddy do together.

When our classes 4th-grade buddies visited our classroom on Wednesday, I think that I did great with my buddy. I kept my voice at an average tone, I wasn’t showing off or trying to act cool around my buddy, I was trying to make him feel welcome to the class, I told him all of the class rules like the bungee chairs, I still had fun with my buddy, and most of all, I was a great role model to him. In my buddy’s eyes, I think that he felt welcome in the classroom also because I could tell that he was also having fun just like me. On a scale from 0-10, (10 at the highest) I think that I got an 8.5. I’m planning to act this way when my buddy comes and visits again, and maybe I could even try to get to know him better next time. The only thing that I could do better is to get my buddy a little more focused on the teacher. But, I officially pledge to be a great role model to my partner, make him welcome to the class, and last but not least… Have fun with my buddy!

I have to remember our Tribe agreements with attentive listening. Me and your buddy did good and I thought I did good explaining, please Mrs. Rueter if you don’t agree this let me know so that I can improve with my buddy and be a better role model/mentor! I think the only thing I know that I can improve on is to always listen when the teacher is talking! Of course I only know this because I was told by Mrs. Rueter to stop, so I would just like to know if I did do anything else, so that in the future I can improve on that as well as attentive listening! I want my buddy to be inspired by me so I would like to make sure that I set the best example I possibly can so that they know what to do! In the future I pledge to always listen when the teacher is talking so that my buddy does the same. I listened to my buddy so I could get to know her a little bit. I gave her compliments because she would show me some of our talents. I helped her out when she was stuck. We all took turns deciding choices for the growth mindset sheet. There are maybe a couple of things that I could improve during the next meeting. I could work on paying a little more attention to what my buddy was saying, I should also pay more attention to where she goes because I didn’t see them during the video. My buddy was talking off topic so I need to work on being focused on what we need to do. I feel that I did follow the tribe agreements because I was listening the whole time and not talking when the teacher was talking. I was working well with my buddy and getting along very well, even with my partner Audrey. I was very respectful to everyone and I didn’t have any arguments or any put downs.

We just met with our fourth grade buddies teaching them about growth mindsets. Something I did well with my buddy was helping him out, I helped him out to improve his answers on his sheet while trying to explain what growth mindset is. I also helped him by giving him positive feedback on his answers and on his creativity that he used for the growth mindset title. Something I can improve upon in the future is trying to keep my buddy on task, I could help him improve on staying on task by having myself stay on task. I could also improve on making him get into the activate more so he can do work while enjoying the activity. I I don’t think I followed the tribe agreements fully because I wasn’t staying on task myself and that let to my buddy not staying on task. I also was a little coo coo I was trying to have my buddy enjoy the activate but it led to him getting off task. In the future I pledge to help my buddy more and make him enjoy the activate without making him get off task. I also pledge to do stuff with my buddy and help him out instead of him doing the answers out of nowhere we can look through it together and do it it together.

Looking back on our time with our buddies I think I did a very good job. I think I did well connecting with my buddy by using a little humor and just overall trying to make her feel welcome and comfortable with me. I also think I did a good job connecting with her, by not just completing the task but also linking the tasks discussion back to her wich I believe made her a little more comfortable and also let us learn a lot about each other. I also think I did a good job completing the task at hand. I think I did well in this because we had a lot of deep conversation about these things rather than me just shooting out the answer. Also, all our conversations besides like greeting each other and telling each other a little bit about ourselves, were fixated on the task at hand. And we both put in a lot of effort to complete the task. However because we had a lot of discussion about each section of the task, and a lot of ideas for each section that kind of ate up our time a little and it was a little hard to be able to complete the final section of the task, we still did, though. And I think this is where I might be able to improve a little next time. I think we did stick to the tribe agreements. We had a good group, we were both put in an effort to complete the task, we weren't yelling and we were sitting side by side. I most certainly did not put her down. Finally, we both listened to each other and respected one another (the right to pass was not really present). In all, I pledge to be a good role model, an excellent leader, and a positive influence.

Yesterday, I met my 4th-grade buddy. When helping our buddy, it was our job to be a role model for them: Someone for them to look up to. Did we make that happen? When participating in this activity, it was my goal to make sure my buddy understood Growth Mindset, and feel balanced, on who did what. I also was aiming to leave a mark on my buddy, on how she felt overall about her 6th-grade buddies, and of course our task we were working on. Overall, I would give myself the grade of a 3-3.5. My buddy walked out of our room, with a smile on her face. After I saw that smile, I knew I did my job correctly. Emma, and I made sure Kiera (Our Buddy) stayed on task, learned more about growth mindset, and had fun! Kiera did a great job at all these things, and I believe I did too. By doing the sheet of paper provided with our group, I truly found more things about growth mindset! I strongly think I followed our tribe agreements. I stayed on task, and we made sure we got the job done. One thing I want to work on for next time, is sparing our time more wisely. Though we followed all tribe agreements,I think we over thought this task a bit, and we could have put our ideas on the page rather than taking a while to talk about it. In the future, I pledge to follow all tribe agreements, and be sure to practice a good job at being a role model.

After reflecting on my behavior for having 4th-grade buddies as a guest, I think I did pretty well. Once, my name was called, I went straight to my buddy and brought them to the community circle. Once we were done with the circle we went back to the table and I tried my best to start up a conversation, I asked her about her favorite subjects and what she was doing in school. When we were making the Growth Mindset sheet I let her include her ideas and I included some of my ideas of my own. I acted like I should as a mentor, calm, I gave input, answered questions, and I also listened to my buddies ideas. Since my partner knew a good amount about Growth Mindset she used what she knew to put in the chart and I used what I knew to help her add to it. In my opinion I did follow the tribes agreement of attentive listening, appreciations ( I told her good job on some of the ideas she had),if she didn’t know she didn’t have to say it I would help, that is kind of like passing, and I showed my respect for her even though she’s younger than me.

For future meetings, I can work on socializing a bit more. I did talk to my buddy about Growth Mindset and school, however, I know that I could have asked her a few more questions to learn more about her. Also, since I didn’t ask as many questions at times there would be an awkward moment of silence. I know I can think of easy questions for her ahead of time. For example, what’s your favorite movie? Have you ever gone to the Dells? If you haven't you definitely should! Or even, do you have any pets? If I do this I think my buddy and I could talk more and get to know each other better.

In the future, I pledge to talk to my buddy more and find out some cool things about her which could lead to more good conversation.

After reflecting on our meeting with our 4th grade buddies, I think I did pretty well. I listened to her and her ideas, and she listened to mine. Since we were doing a growth-mindset activity, we used each other’s ideas, and came up with some pretty good ones, too. I waited for her if she was still writing something before I started talking or writing again, and she did the same for me. I remember that we were both quiet, and not being too loud, so we could really only hear each other, and Riley’s group across the table, who also did a great job. I also did a good job teaching my buddy about what growth-mindsets are, and she looked like she understood what it was, and came up with more ideas as I taught her more about the topic So, yeah, I think I did a pretty good job for the first meeting with my 4th grade buddy.

For future meetings with our buddies, I, personally, would like to work on my time management, as my buddy needs a little more time than me to write. I’d also like to set a time space for my priorities, and try not to go past the boundaries and get carried away, as that is why I did not completely finish my Frayer chart (I filled all of them out, just not as much as I’d like to, along with my buddy). I would also like to work on being more social with my buddy, as I was kind of quiet and not talking much, except to share my ideas. I’d like to be more social so I can learn a bit more about my buddy, and I can get comfortable around her, and vice versa. For one more thing, I’d like to be less “controlling,” so they’d say, and let my buddy do a little more work, because I came up with a lot of the ideas. I did not really have any behavioral issues (hopefully), and didn’t really focus on the other people around me. I didn’t try to be cool or anything, as I didn’t want to make my buddy feel put down. I personally don’t think I was bad or loud or anything, so I’d just like to work on time management and things like that.

I did a pretty good job following our Tribes agreements. I listened to her ideas, and told her that her ideas and plans and writing were good and I was truthfully jealous (seriously, she has better handwriting than me). I gave her the right to pass, and helped her form ideas if her brain was dry. I mutually respected her, and did not do anything to disrespect her. I did a pretty good job following our Tribes agreements.

In the future, I pledge to manage my time better, set a time space for my priorities, and be more social.

We just met my 4th grade buddies, and we were supposed to have good behavior to set an example for our buddies. In my opinion, I think that I stayed on task. For my buddy, I think I set a good example for her because whenever we were about to get sidetracked, I suggested that we should stick to the list, and keep on adding things, even if we already had a lot. I feel like I was a good leader to my buddy because I didn’t just do all of the work, and neither did she. We generated ideas together and shared equally thoughts. We both were included for this task. This writing piece includes what I think I did well at, what I think I could improve at, and I will leave you off with, in the future I pledge to….

First of all, I would like to say what I think I did good at. In my opinion, I think I did well at helping her if she got stuck, then explaining why that would be the answer. We both made sure we were both included in this project. I think I also did good on being open minded for any awesome ideas that my buddy thought of. Most of all, I wanted my buddy to have fun! I feel like I succeeded in that area, and even I had fun!

Second, there are a few things I can improve at. One of them is to actually give big examples instead of little “sayings”. What I mean is when we had to write down examples and what the definition is, we came up with little sayings, but instead my job to be a leader and set a good example for my buddy by thinking of examples beyond the box. Not staying in the box where we both knew the answer. My job was to teach my buddy new things that they didn't have have a clue about before. Something that would really sticks to their mind like, wow, I never knew that! So my goal is to teach my buddy some that they never thought of before.

In the future, I pledge to have my buddy learn something new, and think outside the box.
