What things are you now able to express in Spanish that you have learned in Spanish II?

Throughout the course of Spanish II, I learned how to more easily express my feelings and emotions. Though, regarding new concepts and topics that we have gone over and that was new to me is me being able to express things that have happened past-tense. Also, though it felt like only a brief time that I learned about this, I learned how to also express things that I was going to do in the future, so most of what I learned was how my words should change based of of time.

What differences have you seen between the Spanish language and your native language?

Differences that I have seen included the way things are explained or interpreted from their language to my language, for example, instead "I am ___ years old" it would be "I have __ years". Also, instead of saying that the time is simply 5 minutes until 11, in Spanish you would say that the time is 11 minus 5 minutes. Throughout the course I have noticed small differences such as the ones given above in how my native language of English differs from Spanish.

I found it interesting that compared to America it moves relatively slow. I would have thought that with it being a high tourist attraction that the country would move at a faster pace, and that schools would be similar to ours, and that the food would have been affected by dishes in other countries due to the fact that it's a high attraction area. Also, I found it interesting how some of their sports and hobbies are similar to our own, some people think just because you are thousands of miles away that means you are completely different, but in Spain and America's case that's not the idea at all.

An experience that I had while taking my live class was when I took my first listening quiz, and how I did not expect for the audio to be at that fast of a pace. Going into the listening quiz I had no expectations of an actual person saying the phrases, I had assumed it would be an automated voice. Though, with having the real voice of a person it kind of gives you an idea of how fast native speakers of the language would talk and how fast you would need to interpret the phrases.

My favorite thing about the course was most likely the availability of the outside sources if help was needed. Not all online classes have as many help opportunities as this course did, and I really appreciated that availability. Things that I did not like was that throughout the entire course the practice assignments that didn't affect my grade weren't separated from the assignments that did count. I think that combining the work that was worth points and the ones that are not worth points is confusing when trying to organize my work to plan out my week.

In order to help myself learn Spanish throughout this Spanish II course, I attended live classes and mostly watched youtube videos on verb conjugations and sentence structure since that was something that I was struggling with. In the future I can ask whoever is teaching me more questions on my struggling areas, so that I have more hands-on help rather than watching videos, though I will most likely continue to do that as well as seek assistance from my teacher.

The only thing that I believe my teacher could've done was been slightly clearer in her feedback for certain assignments, because I wish I would have understood what was wrong with the assignments that were graded lower so that I could focus on them more in the future.
