This was my second attending a symphony and it was much like the first time I attended one of these events. My first time was in elementary school and I went to the Meyerson Symphony Center. The experience was similar because like the first time, I was interested in various instruments yet I had not had any learning experience with them. The pieces played was Symphony No. 2: the age of anxiety and Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major. It was interesting hearing the dynamic between the different instruments as the piece moved along. There were times where only one instrument would play and other times when every instrument was participating. "What's going to happen next?" is something I often thought about a lot during the performance because the music itself was unpredictable. It made me feel like if I was learning something or being a told a story. I could describe it as not a visual timeline but an audible timeline. Although I found it interesting, I don't think I would be attending more of these performances. It doesn't appeal to me so much but I can definitely see why people enjoy this type of music.

"Through its plot line depicting four strangers who meet in a New York bar and strike up a philosophical conversation, "The Age of Anxiety" explores the temporary but real sense of community that can sometimes coalesce among strangers... if they simply acknowledge... (the) uncertainty of human life."

I chose this quote from the program notes and it explains the plot for the performance of the song. It has an eerie feeling to it which is what I felt listening to the music performed.

"The musical sections are performed without breaks, resulting in a continuous work that follows the events of the poem as they unfold."
