Ana Clara Sanhudo - Sevilla

We chose to live in an apartment through Airbnb, me and Anna Júlia. We opted for this alternative because we want more freedom, comfort, and the experience of living like locals in Seville. Additionally, this allows us to have friends over and have our own space to study and relax.

Curiosities about Seville

Seville is a fascinating city, full of history and culture. Some interesting facts I discovered:

Flamenco: The city is one of the birthplaces of flamenco, and there are numerous tablaos (flamenco venues) where we can watch live performances.

La Giralda: The iconic tower of Seville Cathedral was originally a Moorish minaret and is now one of the city's landmarks.

A Hot City: Seville is known as the "oven of Spain," with very hot summers. I'm already preparing for it!

University and Program

We will be studying at Loyola Andalusia University, a private institution known for its modern and practical approach. The Business Administration program has an international outlook and allows students to combine their studies with other areas such as Economics and International Relations. This really interests me, as I want to expand my knowledge and have a versatile education.

Additionally, the university has partnerships with various companies, which could be a great opportunity for networking and professional development.

Academic Expectations

My academic expectations are not only to learn about business administration but also to improve my Spanish and challenge myself to study in a new environment. From what I’ve researched, the study pace requires dedication, but there is also room for extracurricular activities, which I find exciting. I want to take advantage of academic events and meet people from all over the world.

My Personal Expectations

More than just studying, this exchange program represents a great opportunity for personal growth. I hope to:

Travel a lot around Spain and other European countries;

Get to know new cultures and learn other languages besides Spanish;

Visit museums and historical monuments, such as the Alcázar of Seville and Plaza de España;

Make new friends and create amazing memories;

Experience the local gastronomy, especially tapas and gazpacho;

Links:

Universidad - Universidade de Loyola | Universidade de Loyola

Images: https://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/admin/files/contents/images/Fotolia_113989710_Subscription_XXL_opt.jpg

https://www.yourviva.com/storage/app/media/en/AREA%20GUIDES/Seville/Area-Guide-Sevilla-Spain-Square-Ceramics-Fountain.jpg

https://images.rove.me/w_1920,q_85/y4pxr96cgi55djancjvt/seville-beach-season.jpg

People are expected to take their trash home, which has contributed to the city being incredibly clean.

While most countries use umbrellas in the rain, many people in Seoul carry umbrellas in the summer to protect themselves from the harsh sun. They even have "sunblock" umbrellas.

In the Gangnam district, smart crosswalks have been installed with floor-level traffic signals that light up in sync with the pedestrian signal. These ground-level lights are particularly helpful in warning people who are looking at their phones and might not notice the regular traffic lights.

Relevant academic details related to the university and program you will be joining.

Hongik University is renowned for its art and design programs, especially in architecture, fine arts, and visual design. It also offers strong programs in engineering, business, and humanities.

What is expected of you as a student there?

I think it´s expected of me to actively engage in my studies, participate in class discussions, and complete assignments on time. Respecting Korean culture, traditions, and the university’s values also important, as well as maintaining a positive attitude when collaborating with colleagues and professors. Additionally, being open to new experiences and immersing myself in both the academic and social environments will enhance my overall experience.

What are your personal expectations? I expect to learn a lot, make new friendships and build connections within the creative community. I also look forward to immersing myself in Korean culture and travelling as much as I can through Asia.
