Summary

                                        ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The book Allies was a roller costar of emotions (kinda like the actual war) and left me feeling halfway complete with all of its complexity and use of realism and the fact that the author got so much story, if one died, he was dead. Except Dee, which i'll get to later. So there is a total of 5 stories, There is Dee, The Maquis/little girl, The paratroopers, Bill the tank driver, and the medic girl.

Now before i talk about Dee i just wanna put out a reminder that all the stories had connections to each other and they were all important and all the people in the real war should be respected and thanked daily for their service.

Now on to Dee, He joined the army and made a good friend named Sid. Sid and Dee became good friends and both hated the Nazis. When Dee finally landed and was coming up the beach, he noticed the struggle and horror the war truly was, he noticed he had the sight lost Sid. He carried on worrying about his buddy and once he got to a safe haven he found Sid. They continued up the hill and eventually made it to a french town. There was a dreaded panzer in the town, Dee sacrificed him self to blow up the tank by attaching a bomb to himself and running to the tank, once he was there it exploded. miraculously, he got back up somehow and got under the tank and overheard the Germans talking. he then ran back to Sid and told him something shocking. Dee was German, but he wasn't a Nazi, he was born in Germany and brought to america by his parents because of Hitler and the Hitler youth. Sid began shooting at Dee out of anger and Confusion of why his best friend didn't tell him beforehand Dee then walked with another squad. Now Dee was heading to Bayeux with the medic girl and her friend and guess who Dee saw, it was Sid. he talked to Sid and he forgave him and admitted that he acted wrong, he then said that Dee had done his part and it was time for him to go home.

This is only a little bit of the book and i highly recommend reading it if you think this sounds interesting.

In the war, soldiers are being taken to Normandy beach by ship. They are then put into smaller ships and let out at the beach. There are also para troopers being dropped in that area to take over from the top. lastly they have tanks on the beach to help the upward effort of the soldiers. But it wasn't just them there was the Maquis/French Resistance, there was the other countrys efforts all put into the war.

The book was a roller costar of different emotions. The book was able to make you feel the emotions of the character almost as if you were there looking around. All of the effort put in to stop the Nazis, all the sacrifices. It is a lot to cover and this book definitely covered it good.
