In my experience my favourite things are being around infants who are learning how to talk, they are the cutest and it make my day a little bit better when I’m around infants. Also for toddlers, they ask the most random questions, they’re questions make me laugh sometimes. I also enjoyed just engaging with children.

The most challenging for me was trying to be calm when children are crying or not listening. Another thing that was challenging for me was meeting new people (ECE workers who are working at daycare). I also had struggles trying to sing and read a book in front of people who I’m not comfortable with like just meeting them.

In my experience my favourite is when i teach the children some songs or some alphabets and they learn quickly. And one of my most favourite is reading a book for the children and they listening when I’m reading. I love how the children can be so loving too and children have pure love when they are in a good mood.

The challenge i have experienced was when the children are not listening to the teacher and ece team. And when the children are angry at each other.

My favourite things about my experience

Being around infants

Meeting new people (some) LOL

Being around infants (6m-1y) made me feel like I was melting, it made me remember the fast months where my panik was that age. And meeting some new people made me feel good about myself, a few people I met taught me how they use himama app and how they plan their schedule.

My most challenging experience

Introducing myself (repeatedly)

Cutting down on cigarettes and snacks

Talking to ECE staff at TBDC

Having to introduce myself everyday was challenging for me. I had to rethink ‘how will I introduce myself tomorrow?’ Especially with my broken English, introducing myself to real qallunaaqs was so challenging.

Cutting down on cigarettes and snacks was also challenging, I am a heavy smoker and I snack around a lot. (This may not be accepted on this pallet but I wanted to mention) Being around infants, toddlers, and children, I had to learn to be calm using different techniques instead of going out for smoke or having snacks because I was around children.

Some staff at TBDC were hard to communicate with, I think that is why I found it challenging.

What are your favourite things about your experience so far?

In my experience I was mostly with the toddlers and infant and was fun to watch the infant and the toddlers of what they know about and teaching them was also fun. They are smart little children.

The challenging part for me was when i first went to the Practicum and I was in the infant room and the few children were just crying as meeting new people as I know some babies tend to cry and I just wanted to calm the baby and be playful with the child but they were just crying and after the snack time they got comfortable and that made my morning.

In my experience, my favourite thing is when the infants are learning to walk, the wobble and accidentally fall without trying and stand back up, its like they teach us that we can try again in our lives even when we fall and not everything is easy to learn.

The most challenging i have experienced is waiting for the end of the day to come, most days are so long but we have to learn how to be patience with ourselves and other people around us especially the kids so they can know that everything happens for a reason.

My favourite things about my experience was watching the infants and toddlers doing what they like to do is being themself. Using their imagination when playing.

Infants and toddler (6m-1y)you can see crawling and walking some toddlers were wobbly and it was adorable to watch. One infant was crawling and would let us hold his arms and he wanted to learn how to walk.

What was the most challenging?

I’d say communicate with the staff because i am very shy person.
