In conclusion, arts are fundamental expression and communication (Roy, Baker & Hamilton 2015). It shapes by culture and genetic heritage (Dower 2020).

 

It is important for Early Childhood children to express their emotion, their feeling through movement, visual arts, sounds, texture and place of thought. Art is helping children to regulate their emotion, social interaction, physical and emotional mental health (Dower 2020).

 

It is essential to embedded Indigenous Place Thought into Early Childhood. Children are having more connection to place and nature.

 

Philosopher Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari believes art are very important in Early Childhood.

 

Regio Emilia approach believes children can show the hundred languages through music, sound, drama, movement and more.

In this experiment, I used :

·      Leaves 

·      Egg carton

·      Wooden corks

·      Paint 

·      My hands to mix the paints into the materials

 

I explored more about texture and sensory by using my fingers to paint for this experiment.  I moved my hands to left and right. Swing my hands around and I could hear leaves touching my fingers. I could feel and smell the nature surround me. I took a deep breath and think about place of thought. What do they feel when I touch them ? How people used them before me ? What was the connection between the texture of egg carton and wooden corks? If they can speak, they could explain more how did they end up in this place? I touched my creation and make more connection to them. This connection is between human and non- human. They are all entangle with each other. It is important to look after our environment (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

In Early Childhood, children are encouraged to express their own thought and creativity. Children are using movement, gesture, texture and sound to express their feeling, emotions, ideas, questions and their perspective on the world around them (Dower 2019). 

The materials for this exploration was:

·      Recycle Roll papers

·      Popsticle sticks

·      Paints 

·      Recycle paper

·      Leaves 

For this experiment, I was very interested to use all recycle and and natural materials.

 

As I listened to music of digeridoo sound, I was very inspiring by this music and indigenous culture. I moved my body dance while listening to the sound of digeridoo. I blended with my thought of the Indigenous place of thought. I could smell the earthy smell from the paper. There is a connection between paper, soil, leaves and tree. Without them, we will never have paper to write or to create our creativity. I felt the roughness or smoothness  texture of paper. I think how do they feel to be used as a paper; how do they feel to be painted on their surface?

What can they do? It isn’t about what can we do to paper (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

I took a risk by using the leaves as paint brush and I could hear the leaves sound  moves to different directions and created an abstract outcome on the paper rolls (Topal & Gandini 1999).

 

Philosopher Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari (1987) state experiment is a complex social effective political phenomenon that actively extends experience. It opens up world and create new venues for thinking and doing (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

In Early Childhood that music, texture and connection to places is always important in Regio Emilia approach. Children are able to take a risk, learn music and show what they know and teacher would guide them and documentated and then use it as a planning cycle (Hanna 2016).

I like to explore more of my creativity and exploration through this experiment so this time I was keen on the texture of the egg carton. Egg carton texture is rough, I can feel the pulp paper sensory in my hands. I squirted some paints all over the egg carton. I could hear the sound of wind and music while I was squirted the paint on them. I moved my body and moved the the egg carton around and imagined the boat is saling on the river.  I can hear the sound of the water, the wind and they make rhymne of music. I feel free to explore my creativity on my creation. I blended into the place of thought how the egg carton feels when it moves on the river, how do human and non human entangle together to create a beautiful creation (Watts 2013).

 

I feel I have more connection to my exploration and I can feel the softeness of pom poms and flufiness of the feathers. 

 

In Early Childhood, it is important for the eacher to encourage the children to take a risk, exploring different options to express their creations and have connection to the environment. This activity enhance their cognitive thinking, problem solvings and communication skills (Topal & Gandini 1999).

The materials I use was:

·      A recycle cardboard

·      Paints

·      Popsticle sticks

·      Pomp pomp

 

For this exploration, I used a recycle cardboard from the boxes. I was wondering what the used for this cardboard before. How did they end up in my studio? How did they feel when they move, and they have been moving around in the storage room or in the shipping or in the transport to here? People used to throw it and touched the texture of the cardboard. Cardboard moves, body moves, and material moves (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

My mind focus on the place thought, thinking that cardboard was originally from the tree. I thought about the tree that grow on the land. There is connection between human and non human world in creation and maintenance of the society of the Indegious point of views (Watts 2013).

 

I then splashed some paint into the carboard and used the popsticle sticks to mix the colour on the cardboard. I could hear the sounds of the splash and squish sound  between the popsticle sticks and the cardboard. Then I touch the pompom textures, they are very soft and fluffy sensory. It feels so warm and comfort on the back of my hands. I could see all the textures mix and blend together and I can see my picture as a journey of my life. 

 

This exploration represents the hundred languages in Regio Emilia approach for Early Childhood. Children can express their feeling, their thought and movement, their creativity in visual arts, drama, music and drawing (Kristy 2021).

The second experiment that I explored was about the recycling and environment. I feel is very important to explore, expand  my creativity and thought into this exploration.  

 

When I touched the recycle paper I can feel the texture of the trees and plants  around us. How the trees are feel and move by human to becoming other purpose in our life  it. I could see how the indegenous people use barks as their paper to write their stories and their histories. There is a connections between the land and people.

I added colours to represents a camp fire and the sun. The experience involving light/ fire can enable children to appreciate the awe and wonder of the world around them and provide rich environment in which to develop their natural curiosity (Thornton and Burton 2010).

 

The paint’s texture is very shiny and I added some rice to give some rough textures. I was thinking and immersed with the roughness of the sand or the soil around us. The paint gave some thought how the indegineous people make their own paint ? How the paint feels when it was mixed with the rice? They could tell us they have a spiritual, physical, social and cultural are happening in our land (Thornton & Burton 2010).

 

Then I added wooden corks which has a different texture than paint and rice. It made me feel more comfortable and feels warm natural in my hands. The last part that I expore was a recycle plastic lid which eminded me that plastic recycle can harm to the environment. I could feel the breeze of the ecology sounds that they was not happy and it could destroy our land (Pacini-Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

   

The final thought I had was to hang the artifact on the wall with the string. Paper is moving around as energy and space around (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

For this exploration, I used a hundred languages Regio Emillia approach which is an expression of children’s creativity and they can use language, drama, painting, drawing, visual arts to illustrate their learning (Kristy 2021).

·      Clay

·      Loose Parts such as wood corks, leaves, fennel seeds, small wood logs and natural wood slices.

I started my first experiment by using clay and natural loose parts. Clay is very versatile. I touched, poked, shaped it, threw it and formed it. I can feel the textures and the smell of earthy when I squished the clay on my hands. The clay melted back on the back of my hands . I could feel the entangle between the land and soil as well as  the pines, the fennel seeds, the wooden slices. I could hear the whisper of the wooden logs and leaves when I put them together on the clay. I felt embrace to the textures of the wooden logs and thinking about the wood, the fennel seed and leaves movement when I touched it. The sounds of them blended with the clay and the ecology in the environment.

 

 

I  was thinking about the land where I was standing on and living in (Pacini- Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2016). According to Watt 2013 that land is alive and thinking and that humans and non- humans derive agency through the extension of these thoughts. For Indigenous people, land is very important in their live and the land is part of them. This relationship with the land requires communication and care, as well as interacting with the nonhumans that also make up the land. 

 

I used the loose parts in this experiment. I believe loose part is very beneficial for children in Early Childhood for their development thinking, problem solving, self-direction and motivation. A philosopher John Dewer states education and learning is an interactive, experimental and learning process (Gull, Goldstein & Rosengarten 2021).

 

I believe in Regio Emiila approach as well which believes children can construct their own knowledge and values from interactions with and actions on and physical and social world (Aljabreen 2020).

My understanding of art is the way humans express their personal creativity, thought and creativity through music, movement, drama and visual arts. The arts are fundamentally expression and communication and by their nature they are also intensely personal (Roy, Baker & Hamilton 2015). Arts is also shaped by culture and genetic heritage (Dower 2020).

 

Art works through expression and communication in different cultures and ways and the Arts acts as a  language. Arts are communicated in non-linguistic, expressive way, culturally and through, textures, symbols and metaphor (Roy, Baker & Hamilton 2015). Art in Early Childhood Education is very important for children for their emotional intelligence, social interaction, physical and mental health (Dower 2020).

 

 

Art in the 19^th century is different than what art is now because Art in the 19^th century art becomes very serious and no entertainment (Abbings 2019). Today, Art for children is the way to express their feelings, thought and communicate their own personal language. Art is not only drawing but also involve music, drama, movement and visual art. Children are becoming more fluent in creative ideas and become artistic enrichment in their later life (Barnes 2015)

 

 

Art is connected to where we live, or place of thought which is an Indigenous conception of the world. It is very important not to remove non-human agency in the Arts thought. The land is alive and thinking and that human and non-human through the extension of this thoughts (Watts 2013)

Art is also connected to thinking about materials as it is about force and movement, how the body moves, how the material moves us physically and emotionally 

(Pacini-Ketchabaw, Kind & Kocher 2020).

 

My responsibility as ECT when teaching art is to encourage children to use their own ideas for making their arts. It is important for Early Childhood Teacher to observe children play and interests, provide the right prompts or materials and inspire children as an artist (Szekely 2015).
