         <description><![CDATA[<div>Have you wondered why Thomas and Birdie entered the battlefield to help the union soldier? Before he met the union soldiers he was actually a slave that helped on the farm with his little sister Birdie. His brother Clem was taken by the slave catchers. After Clem was gone the slave catchers were back a few month later to capture Thomas and he have to leave his sister behind. Inside his head he was thinking that he should run away as far as he could away from the slave catchers. Since so many problem that occurred to Thomas and Birdie on the way to the battlefield.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For one thing, Thomas and Birdie did really want to help the union soldiers because the soldiers helped them. In return, Thomas and Birdie helped the soldiers to prepare for the fight of Gettysburg. Before the soldiers head to the battle, unprepared and confused. At the camp Henry offered Thomas and Birdie after the war they can to stay at his home at Vermont. Furthermore, Thomas and Birdie will be free from the slave catchers.<br><br>In addition, after finding out the battle as about the start, Thomas and Birdie was in danger when the soldiers were sneaked attacked by the rebel soldiers and he went to look for Birdie. Birdie was hiding in the wagon where Henry was moving. When Thomas went to search the wagon he found out that Birdie wasn't there, all there was her toy doll. To clarify, Thomas and the soldiers found Birdie safe and sound.</div>]]></description>

Opponents say "They should have ran away to the North instead of going to war." According to the book "Thomas and Birdie was thinking about Clem his brother that was taken by the slave catcher. It gave hope to us." From this forward,Thomas and Birdie had the best time of their life. This will inform us that fighting in the war was worth it. Therefore, Thomas and Birdie had many exciting thing in their future.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thomas had gotten injured during the battle so he was taken to the hospital. While he woke up he saw his brother Clem. Clem was there to see Thomas and told them what happened to him. According to the book Clem escaped and became a soldiers to fight for freedom. Clem had told Thomas he had to go back to fight.After Thomas got better, Henry took Birdie and Thomas to his home in Vermont. Henry mom taught them how to write and read. Thomas and Birdie head outside of Henry's home then it starts to snow.</div>]]></description>
