I would say being able to connect with on child instead of many. Getting to pay attention to one child instead of many was really easy.

The children at times would fight over how much slime they should get and they struggled with sharing it and overall having an equal amount per child. I resolved this by explaining to them how they can all have the same amount of slime or they can work together and put their slimes together.

A highlight from my teaching week was when I was doing sensory bin with jello and how excited and happy kids were every day

Throughout the lesson I tried to act excited about what I was teaching so that the little patriots would also be enthusiastic about the lesson. I attempted to present the lesson in a way that would seem fun and engaging to each student.

I would try to make the activity look more fun instead of being math that no one would really want to do. Being able to present it and show that it’s fun can help the child lead more into the activity.

I would try to add more to do with the lesson because since it’s sensory bin I feel like there should’ve been more slime and also other different objects in it.

Often children would run into conflict or disagreement however when dealing with such conflict I found it is best to remain calm and speak in a stern yet calm tone. The students would often separate after doing so even without being told

Since the kids tended to join the activity later in the period they tended to not have enough time to finish the activity. Had they joined earlier in the period they would have had enough time, but otherwise I had to cut them off for clean up. Since there weren’t that many kids at the activity, it was easy to ask each of them questions about their drawing and decisions and to respond to their comments

A children tend to fight over some materials sometimes. I would just talk in private with the kid who was conflicting and we would solve the problem. Usually it doesn’t take too much time and kids are back together playing.

I was able to build relationships with the children through jokes and making sure they know that the activities aren’t meant to be super serious, and they can use their creativity to the best of their abilities. Offering suggestions to the children helped them form ideas in their own head, and created smooth conversation between me and the children.

I would have had more items and props for the children to engage more into the dramatic play like costumes, a microphone, and pointers for them to pretend they were weather men and women. I think if they had more props and items to play with this would have enhanced and motivated them more to continue the dramatic play as weather men and women and observe the weather.

I tried to seem excited during the activity so that the kids would also get excited. I also did the activity along with them to somewhat lead the lesson, even though it was an art activity. I could try to incorporate more imaginative ideas into the activities to make it more fun for the kids

I think the pacing for my cooking lessons were mostly appropriate with perhaps a slight adjustment of being quicker because cleaning up and making the foods for the rest of the children do take up some amount of time to the point I’m still in the room when the bell rings.

A highlight of my teaching week was seeing how the children were interested in engaging into the dramatic play of weather men and women. It made me very happy to see that they were excited to play with the props and use their imagination to tell the weather and played together kindly.

I tried to stay engaged with the kids and have them show me what they were doing. I would also ask them what they think about what they’re doing, like for example asking them how something feels in the sensory bin

My lesson pacing was pretty good. Since my activity was only one at a time, I was able to allow 3-4 kids to go per class period. Each kid took about 5 minutes, less if others helped.
