         <description><![CDATA[<div>Maybe your stance/philosophy is the importance of effective collaboration that reduces barriers for teachers?<br><br><br>This cycle is one that I am excited to use in my role next year both as teacher-librarian collaborator and as tech cadre (tech integration team) collaborator. I think that as a TL it will be important to think about how to help reduce the number of constraints that teachers will face. They may have an awesome purpose in having students use websites as a way to showcase work throughout the year, but if the platform we are using is too large of a constraint for teachers, then they might abandon the project in favor of something not as real world or as meaningful, reflective, and rich for students' learning experience.&nbsp;<br>Very real problem...We will brainstorm together today.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>3rd time's a charm?&nbsp; I guess I wasn't signed into an account so couldn't edit my other entries?<br>I'd like to have a philosophy that explores/encourages open communication between school and public libraries.&nbsp; However, I can't actually implement anything without permission and possibly even a change in city policy :\ so I'm not sure if I should have my philosophy be about things I can't actually use after creating.<br><br>I love it that you want to do something that will impact your clients.&nbsp; You want to advocate for change.&nbsp; Maybe your overarching philosophy is based on using technology to advocate for change?&nbsp; Using technology to connect?&nbsp; The power of multimedia to drive decisions and convince?<br><br>I think my philosophy will be Better Service and Communication through Technology.  If that's acceptable/not too generic.  I mean it in the context of a public library to patrons.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Michael Cowling's article, <em>Why Technology in Schools Must Serve a Purpose</em>, I read that teachers need to be taught how to use technology appropriately in order to effectively implement technology. I certainly agree with this, however, I think students need to be taught this as well. Yes, most are digital natives, but just because they are using technology daily doesn't mean they necessarily know how to use the technology to improve their own education. In short, both teachers and students need to be taught how to use technology in an educational setting.<br><br>Very true...Do you want to concentrate on the ethics?&nbsp; Or the purpose?&nbsp; Or which direction do you want to have this go? Or the thinking?<br>Or are you thinking about using the quote that you included on the wall?<br><br>Maybe this was the wrong spot to put reflections of the article - this was one of my thoughts about the article, and my philosophy is the Canva "poster" in red.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Great thoughts...Do you believe the apps foster the growth mindset or working to solve the problems ( via the apps/software) create the shift? &nbsp; <br><br><br>I believe just because a person can use technology doesn't always mean&nbsp; he/she should. Its use should be a meaningful way to obtain, exchange, evaluate, and organize ideas and information. I also believe learning new apps and software can create a growth mindset by solving problems through persistence and ingenuity. Lastly, and perhaps surprisingly, various forms of technology can heighten an individual's sense of aestheticism and contribute to his/her creativity. Regarding this final statement, I'm thinking specifically about digital art, music, and the use of CGI (computer generated imagery) in film.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Your thinking is 'spot on'....Do you want to put the power of "YET" into any of your verbage?<br><br><br>I believe that school should be about learning how to think (and think critically) not about learning procedures.<br><br>The "technology is a tool" idea factors into this a lot, but I wanted to broaden it out to go beyond that. My husband is an elementary math expert, and I have learned in the past few years to do math in my head that I totally would have needed paper for as a kid or I would still be drawing numbers in the air. He taught me the thinking behind the problems, and it has made a world of difference. Now I understand why I'm doing what I'm doing rather than doing it because I know to "Carry the one..." I see it as the same in reading. We spend so much time breaking reading down into little procedures that kids can memorize that we've forgotten somewhat that just reading often and reading for enjoyment can lead to some serious reading skills.<br><br>I want to work something into the same vision about concept-based inquiry and collaboration, but I don't know how to put that all in one vision without mushing it up.</div>]]></description>
