Furthermore, in Fitzgerald's opinion, he believes that he never obtained the American Dream no matter how many obstacles he faced. Also, Fitzgerald's own view on this is that no matter what you do, the American Dream is unattainable because of societal standards.

According to my dad, what makes the American Dream appealing is knowing a life of luxury is waiting for you once you achieve it. He said some obstacles that would get in the way would be primarily non-supportive parents and no motivation or dedication. To attain the American Dream, my dad emphasized that you need to put work in and you have to be different from the crowd around you. That means working when no one is working in order to improve faster than the people around you so that you can attain wealth.

In my opinion, what makes the American Dream appealing is the wealth and status that you get after obtaining it. There would be tons of obstacles to attain the American Dream nowadays in our society. Getting wealthy is much harder now than it was in the past so that means even more work is needed to be successful. Things such as time management and loss of loved ones are major obstacles that might come your way when working your way to the top. This can interfere a lot but to obtain the American Dream, you have to put things like that aside in order to achieve your goals.

To Jay-Z what makes the American Dream appealing is wanting to be at the very top at what he does. He had many obstacles such as growing up in a very poor neighborhood in New York, also he had to drop out of high-school in order to make money for his family. These things massively impacted his life and made it 10 times harder to obtain the American Dream itself. According to Jay-Z, to attain the American Dream you can never give up and you have to believe in yourself.

Through reading all my peers padlet's and looking at their personal takes, many of them stuck with me. The one that corresponded to my ideas the most was Justin's. This is mainly because he talked about experiencing firsthand racism because of his race and religion and that stuck with me a lot as I experienced the same thing. Because of our race and religion, our chances of achieving the American Dream go down tenfold due to something we can't even control. People may joke about it while we are in school but in the future, it can have a massive impact on your future because of the immense amounts of racism and discrimination within America.
