I stopped reading Black Dove White Raven Because I was around half way through and nothing really interesting happened. There was a bit of action but only 2 times and I was really bored the rest of the time. I am normally someone who really looks forward to reading and I was with my summer reading book Messenger but this one I really could not get into. Also they Authors normally make characters that you really love or hate in books but there was no one in the book that really did that for me. All of the characters were really bland. And the mother in the story was supposed to be likable but I just found her very annoying. She was always crying or just had way too much energy and I didn’t like her. And the 2 main characters Em and Teo were not interesting or likable at all; they were just kind of boring and never really said anything. Although the character and plot were not my thing I did think it was really cool how the book was written. How the 2 main characters were writing about the past. I do like Historical fiction so I do think that I will read some more of that in the future but I am going to take a little brake from it. And maybe when I read historical fiction again I will do a different time period. I would also like to experiment with some different genres for my next book but I’m not quite sure yet but I think I am going to ask my sister or mom because they always have good recommendations.

I think this is one of my new favorite books. The characters are likeable, it has a great plot, and it has really good detail. I really was not expecting the ending. I was right about Citra getting the position of the new Scythe(and I love the name she picked, Scythe Anastasia after the young princess who did not do anything "important" but it is what she could have done and that's why Citra picked it). The part I was not expecting in the end was Scythe Faraday dying, Rowan going off to train with Scythe Goddard, Rowan killing Scythe Goddard and his group of scythes, and Citra "accidentally" granting Rowan immunity when she was forced to glean him since she got to be the newest Scythe AND then Citra letting Rowan escape out into a getaway car that was being driven none other than the ghost of Scythe Faraday!?! The ending was pretty crazy but the author wrapped it up really well slowly leading to the end from the climax and then randomly hitting us with that crazy ending. Citra and Rowan both changed pretty drastically and a lot more than I was expecting. Both of them got a lot tougher and harder but at the same time their love for each other grew and grew which I should have expected but didn't but I really liked it. I think that the theme of this book is to not go along with something you know is wrong if you have a choice because Citra was going to be forced to glean Rowan which anyone else would do but she didn't because she is smart and knew that it was wrong. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone but it is a bit hard to read and took me a long time but it is worth it.

This is actually the second book in the Giver Quartet but I accidentally read them in the wrong order but I don't think it that big of a deal. The book focuses on Kira a young girl with a deformed leg that she has had since birth. Her mom has recently died and now she live at the guardian's house. The guardians are 11 men that run her society. Another character in Matt, also known as Matty in Messenger. Her is a little kid that they call tykes. One thing I've noticed about this society is that they don't track age. Instead, you are given a name at birth that is one syllable, for example the name Ann. Then as you grow older your name grows more syllables so now Ann is Anna. At middle aged she would be Annabel and if she got old enough she would get a 4 syllable name like Annanella but that is rare because most people don't live that long. I am about half way through the book and I don't know if I like it as much as I did the other 2 but I felt the same for Messenger until the end so maybe I will feel the same for this one.

Out of all 3 that I have read so far, this one was my least favorite. I just felt that it was more boring and less action packed than the others I have read. It did answer some questions I had from Messenger since that is the 3rd book and Gathering Blue is the second. Like who Kira was and her background. And how Matty got to Village with Christopher, Kira's father. I think that the other questions I have will be answered in the last book, Son. The questions are, how was Kira's village formed, why did Jamison try to kill Christopher, and why did the council keep Tomas, Jo, and Kira? They kind of explained that last question in the book but I'm still a little confused about it. For recommendations, since it is in a series I would say read it but I don't think it is the most interesting out of the 3 that I have read so far. But the other 2 are so good that this one is worth a read.
