My name is Mirela Klarić, I teach Croatian language and literature in a small town Vinkovci, Croatia. I joined this course because I think it is always good to learn something new and because I am not that good with new technologies inn classroom and I think that it could be a valuable addition to my classes. Hope we will all have fun and learn a lot here.

What type of a teacher am I?

I was going through these 14 types of a teacher and had a good laugh - I recognized myself in some of them (not int hose that have anything to do with sport though) so I can not say I am this or that type - I think all teachers go from one extreme to another from time to time but mainly they are none of the listed and same time all of it. This might be silly and immature a bit but my huge teaching role model is a fictional character - Minerva McGonagall, I think she has quallities all teachers should have: she knows what she teaches much better than anyone else, she has a great relationship with her students, she understands what is important to them and respects that and they respect her back. (picture from https://www.quora.com/What-is-your-favorite-Minerva-McGonagall-quote-1)

I learned in all these types of learning untill now. They are all very important and they should be part of the learning experience of every individual. I do not think any of them has greater importance, they all have their purpose, advantages and disadvantages. What I see in my students is their desire to learn but in less formal way, they want to learn without knowing they do so, we could say that they are huge fans od informal learning. As a teacher, I am part of the formal learning system but I still try to create activities for my students that will make them feel like they do not learn even though they do.
http://www.oecd.org/education/skills-beyond-school/recognitionofnon-formalandinformallearning-home.htm
https://www.coe.int/en/web/lang-migrants/formal-non-formal-and-informal-learning

I am not sure if I have it or not, I do have many friendships around Europe made with teachers during Comenius and Erasmus+ programs, we do not communicate that often about school, methods, work life in general once the project ends - we stay in touch because we like each other as a people. I think it is easier to talk about professional issues with people who share similar experiences and my European teacher friends work in more or less different educational systems. I think in last year or two things are starting to change in Croatia as well and I will surely start talking to them more about work and less about other topics.
Adding links for future me who has time to read again: https://www.edutopia.org/blog/how-do-i-get-a-pln-tom-whitby
https://teacherchallenge.edublogs.org/pln-define/

My answer to question - how would you spend 25000 dollars for your classromm?
I would spend it on laptops for my classroom, some subscriptions to online educational platforms, I would love to have more white boards in my classroom too. I would need a comfortable chairs for students and some money would surely go for mobile desks (the ones with wheels).

Breza - idea: Last month my students were reading a novel Breza (The birch) about, among other things, a women's place in a society some 100 years ago. If I had this course month ago - this would be their homework.
Day 1 - after reading the novel, solving an online quiz (google forms or kahoot or something similar)
Day 2 - writing a short review of a novel in padlet
Day 3 - prepare for a discussion on a topic: Is women's place in society much better now compared to described in the novel? This activity I would do in classroom because I love to let my students speak as much as I can.

Play and learn

https://www.stemvillage.com/blog/10-ways-to-gamify-your-classroom
https://sites.google.com/view/itelab-jigsaws
https://sites.google.com/view/itelab-jeopardy
https://sites.google.com/view/itelab-flash
https://sites.google.com/view/itelab-quizzes

Inclusive classroom
https://www.understood.org/en?fbclid=IwAR2poNoYbdUpu9JnZeQou2UxF-vg72zgiq2EpocQ3JTRdRIrkGhl-dFk0Tw
http://blog.whooosreading.org/10-ways-to-differentiate-instruction-with-technology
https://www.aeseducation.com/blog/9-tips-using-technology-differentiate-instruction

Interesting e-book
