This diagram laid out vertical management visually allowing me to understand how the dynamic of a business trinkles down. It demonstrates the levels of management from top level to lower management.

Simple but effective. We learned about top, middle, and lower management and the certain skills each must have to fill each of their positional levels. The following chart provides a visual of how much of each skill the levels have. The management levels have more of a certain skill than others or vise versa; all depends on experience.

Management should always have your back aka wanting what's best for you and helping to correct mistakes with effective criticism. Management that is not in your best interest can cause major conflict with targeted employees and completely halt any working progress.

Business Ethics, must check off the boxes. This is an easy representation of the attributes of ethical business practice which has shown me a new perspective on businesses I know and trusted.

Patagonia Inc is a clothing brand that is heavily involved with the environment as well as ethical business practices (labor issues for example - no child labor) of the world. It's a brand I wear and am familiar with and provides a great example of ethical business practice.

I've come to realize it does not matter how big the company is, as long as the owner of that company has great intentions the business will reflect and attract the right employees.

Apple provided me an example of a business that promotes and implements culture and diversity within it's company.

The Microsoft mission statements provides a perfect example of diversity from consumers to employees.

I love this diagram, it helps me understand how culture is shown throughout a company. The following diagram was created by a man named Edward T Hall, an American anthropologist from 1976. He states company culture is most similar to an iceberg; there are aspects that are seen but the larger portion of culture is hidden underneath.

We learned about the challenges and positives global business can face. Doing business globally allows various cultures to work together bringing new innovative ideas to the table. On the other hand, there can be challenges of people not accepting certain perspectives based on seasoned ideas of individuals resulting in more conflict and less cohesion of teams.

Everyone is familiar with the United Nations and their importance. "Peace, dignity, and equality on a healthy planet" to sum it up. The United Nations provides guidance on how to manage globalization keeping peace to everyone around the world.

Before I learned about planning in business, I was in the mindset of "everything needs to be planned to a great degree" without thinking of the drawbacks. Not every event can be planned for so it's important to roll with the punches; innovation and updating original plans as things change.

Drawbacks include: possibility of preventing action, leading to complacency, preventing flexibility, and inhibiting creativity.

I am a big fan of graphs because it gives an visual representation summary of information. This graph pulled from the reading shows the roles of planning for each of the management level, who is assigned to which process.

We've talked about competitive advantage throughout this course a lot. The best definition is a differentiating attribute of a business than another either in the same industry or outside. Research can be done on all industries since it gives you a variety of options to choose from, find out what works for other businesses that could possibly work for your own.

Look familiar? Here is the step by step process of "strategic management." By using this process managers are able to make certain decisions such as what to do in a given circumstance and when.

E-commerce is the new generations most popular way to shop. How crazy is it that we are in a day in age where going into the store is rare? We have delivery apps for food and groceries, online stores to shop, etc. Internet has changed the way of the world for good and some bad, it depends on how you view it.

The roller coaster may seem irrelevant but it reminds me of the matrix organizational structure and how the various departments interact. The way it works is each department has a department head and and/or project manager(s), depending on how many current projects, both need to be communicated to. The department head is typically the one who reports information to the upper management and follow up down the ladder. For any random bystander, it may look like a bunch of loops and turns but can be extremely effective depending on the size of the business.

Division of labor divides the tasks of production and assigning to specific people or departments to complete them. From many moons ago, this process has increased efficiency around the world.

Human resources has a few roles in the company and those include the following: training of current and future employees, compensation, safety and health, employee and labor relations, and terminations. HR has to be well diverse in the laws in order to perform their duties.

It's very unfortunate the world has to be so cruel, we must love everyone no matter color, religion, sex, age, etc.

Here is a short article about a lady dispatcher who was being harassed by a supervisor, reported it multiple times and nothing was being done. This is a perfect example of what the HR department must handle.

Training must be done from the beginning to the end for employees. The company policies and dynamic may change depending on specific circumstances and the employees must be effectively trained. When a company provides annual training or refreshing, it helps the employees to stay steady on their task and have a complete understanding.

Evaluations fall right after this as well.

Everyone has their own communication style and businesses may have some barriers to jump over. These barriers may include ambiguous words or phrases, delivery of information, physiological, or even technological advancements. We must overcome these barriers in business in order to succeed.

B3 Outdoor Design is my husbands company and he is the definition of a leader. The best attributes of the leader he is would be influencer, vision maker, and motivator. It takes a lot of hard work to become that person in business and continue to maintain it.

Abraham Lincoln is one of the greatest leaders who ever lived. He was revolutionary and the one who ignited "free nation." Based on the information we have, he would be considered a transformational leader.

For some people it can take a lot to motivate them but it's very important to find the one thing that does to kick start into action.

Employee motivation is a must because it keeps them intrigued with what they are doing.

Productivity corresponds greatly with the control section of management. Control management has a primary goal of maximizing the productivity with the corporation in order to create growth.
