Upcycling activity - Our students used empty cans to make pencil holders. Also, they turned old wood slices to the cutest Easter bunnies. All the things prepared they later sold at our Easter Charity Event. All of this was done to collect the funds to support the victims of the earthquake in Turkey. We are grateful to everyone who participated in this event.

Students participating in the Erasmus+ project I.N.S.P.I.R.E., teacher Ana Bahat and the principal of Elementary School Vladimir Nazor Budinščina, Mrs. Renata Kreber-Mikšaj, visited Zajezda Education Center on Monday, December 18, 2023, and delighted the children with the gifts they had prepared.

Along with the presentation and tour of the center with the director and other employees, the students were able to find out how the center works, who works there and which children stay there, and get to know the history of the institution itself. During the visit, students and children from the center held a Christmas workshop. At the workshop, they made decorations for their Christmas tree out of wood.

With this visit, the students expanded their knowledge about the goals of sustainable development, with an emphasis on the protection of children and their rights.

Our students prepared a challenge and gave advice on how to MAKE EVERY DAY EARTH DAY! Their motto is: "Stand up for what you stand on! 👟 Help your local communities by picking up trash 🚮, shopping at local farmer’s markets 👩‍🌾, or even buying clothes out of recyclable materials 🧣. "

On Thursday, 25th May 2023, amidst the heated preparations for our mobility in Ankara, the members of our Erasmus team gathered together for a clean-up activity. We ransacked the path from our school in Budinščina to the local lake and managed to fill up several trash bags. We took this opportunity to also celebrate the World Environment Day, which is on the 5th June.

To mark World Water Day, our students explored the importance of water and prepared posters about it.

• a motivational letter written in Croatian, in which students needed to explain their reasons for wanting to participate in the project, what is sustainability, how and if they live sustainably, and what they could do to contribute to the project

• a poster in English, presenting basic information about one of the three other countries participating in the project

• a presentation of the aforementioned poster in English

Each of the assignments was graded with 1 to 5 points, depending on structure, information organization, spelling and grammar and clarity of presentation.

Students could also get additional points if they had participated in the e-Twinning I.N.S.P.I.R.E. project during the previos school year, and if they had participated in ecological projects, programmes or competitions.

The committee reviewed all the letters and posters, and listened to all the presentations done by the students. After grading their work and adding up points, the final 15 students were selected, with which our project team was finally formed.

During their mobility to Ankara, students had the opportunity to make valuable friendships with students from other countries, which opened their minds to the diversity of cultures and traditions. Shared experiences fostered bonds based on respect and understanding of different perspectives. Moreover, participating in various activities related to sustainable development, such as ecological planting and composting workshops, stimulated their creativity and commitment to environmental issues. These experiences not only enriched their knowledge, but also resulted in new ideas and initiatives that can contribute to creating a more sustainable future.

We hope that this meeting motivated younger students to take up challenges and be open to international cooperation and to look for creative solutions and activities related to sustainable development.

We are happy to share our experience with our partners as it was a special meeting for the Polish Team.
