Some people might argue that building prominent confederate statues purpose is to paint the Confederacy in a favorable light to ensure future generations of southern whites to support white supremacy policies such as Jim Crow laws, while other people might consider that having the statues helps remember the past and to not repeat it for the future. But how could people decide if they don't know about history? In order to take make a valuable claim, they need to be aware of the context and understand what has happened in the past. The only way to do so, is by reading information from credible sources.
