The Javel company introduced this product and called it 'liqueur de Javel'. At first, it was used to bleach cotton.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Sodium hypochlorite can be produced in two ways:<br>- By dissolving salt in softened water, which results in a concentrated brine solution. The solution is electrolyzed and forms a sodium hypochlorite solution in water. This solution contains 150 g active chlorine (Cl<sub>2</sub>) per liter. During this reaction the explosive hydrogen gas is also formed.<br>- By adding chlorine gas (Cl<sub>2</sub>) to caustic soda (NaOH). Remember that urine contains ammonia, so usng the products in the toilet increase the risk of creating a toxic gas that can actaully stop lung function.</li><li>It increases asthma and allergy symptoms because of the likelihood of inhalation. It can also cause wheezing, bronchospasm and sometimes noncardiogenic pulmonary edema (a lung condition that prevents enough oxygen from entering the blood).</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
