When we first arrived at the center we were taken into a small room. Once we all sat down we listened to our guide tell us about the Nature Center and everything they do their. We were also informed about various biome's that they had at the center and specifically about the somewhat recently acquired wetlands, as well as the animals they harbored. She then showed us a few different types of animals that they at the center. In this picture I went for a simple eye level shot, since she was just showing it off to everyone. I didn't adjust the brightness in this picture since the room already provided enough light for me to get a nice and clear photo of the snake that she was showing us as well as informing us about.

Twisting thorns

This shot was taken once we had gotten out of the forest and into grasslands. While we were at this section of the center one of my classmates actually found a salamander, it was surprisingly small and black. From the hill we were standing on we could see a few birds that seemed to be hawks most likely hunting since they were constantly circling one area. When I took this show I wanted to show this small but ever present example of nature reclaiming it's lost space. To get this low angel I had to lay down and take this shot from the ground. This shot of the thorns taking wrapping itself around this small wooden plank, shows foreground, middle ground and background, and this was what I was going for because it shows all different kinds of layers in one shot. Although I did take this same shot a few times with different kinds of brightness, just to make sure It wasn't too bright, since there weren't many things to provide a natural shade from the sun.

A Forgotten fire pit

This was a fire pit made by native Americans long before the center was even thought of. after the fire pit was long and forgotten it was reclaimed by nature and it now house leaves, water, and twigs. This fire pit was right next to the path that we followed to get to the pond. In the background of this photo we can see wild lettuce growing, these are natural to the environment and are a native species, but they do look off on a ground that looks bleak as well as dry. It's also kind of cool that you can see one them growing right in front of the fire pit. In this photo the foreground was my main focus but I still wanted to show what was going on in the background with out taking away too much of the attention from the campfire. Unlike a few of my other shots I didn't get too close to take this picture I instead used the zoom function on my phone, while getting to the side of the pit to get this picture. I also adjusted this picture to be a bit brighter since it was a bit took dark to see everything going on in the picture clearly.

A tree at the end of the path

This tree was near a pond at the end of our journey. Hear the guide talked a lot about invasive species and how when the enter a biome (like this forest) it can completely changes the Eco system over a period of time. This is usually a bad outcome because when this Eco system changes that means that a lot of the plant and wildlife are dying or have to move because of it. This long furry branch that is twisting it's way up the bark of the tree isn't exactly that. This branch is actually poison ivy, although it isn't an invasive species it is killing the tree. When poison ivy is rapping itself around a tree like this it drains the nutrients from the tree and starts to constrict/stop the tree's breathing. This will ultimate kill the tree. For this shot I crouched right in front of the tree to get a low angle that would show off how close the tree was to me as well as capture the tree behind it. This lower angle shot I took also led to the tree being close-up relative to it's background which is far off from this perspective. The lighting in this show was adjusted so that it wasn't too bright but you would still be able to tell what's going on clearly

An aged path

This is was one of the first the parts of the forest we saw started to walk along the path. In this picture it's worth noting that in the background of this image we see a fallen tree. This tree can serve as a monument to the past, what i'm talking about here is when Baltimore was so windy that school got closed. This was considered a scary time because a lot of people native to Baltimore have never experienced anything like that before, not to mention the fact that some people even died from these winds and the destruction they caused. Most notably a lot of trees fell because of this wind, and this tree seems to be a victim of those winds. It may not be the most important thing to remember but it's defiantly worth remembering what happened that day. This shot was one of if not the darkest pictures that I took, and I wanted it to be that way. Just to showcase that even on a sunny day, things can be dark it's just about ones perspective. Although I would of liked to have a better shot of the tree that had fallen in the background, I didn't want to zoom in as that would take away from the surrounding are of this picture which I wanted to show from an eye level, it would also have been so zoomed in that pixels would show and the shot would be virtually ruined in that regard.
