A solution to food deserts is opening more community farms and increasing the presence of fresh food in corner stores. Because grocery stores only reach a one mile radius and are costly, building enough grocery stores to fix the problem of food deserts is not sustainable. Instead, establishing local farms and cafes and increasing the presence of fresh food in already built corner stores will help reach more people living in a food desert without the need for expensive grocery stores. Plus, with the money used to built one grocery store, more local farms and fresh food in corner stores can be added.

Having a farm or ranch in the middle of a food desert in order to provide fresh produce and livestock would be an excellent solution to a desert. If the farm were to sell not only produce, but the animals themselves, the people could use the animals themselves to provide. For instance, someone could buy a chicken and be provided constantly with fresh eggs (and if they really need meat they can let some eggs survive and then eat the chickens that come from them).

One solution to solving food deserts is by putting grocery stores near low income areas or high populated areas to make sure there is one close enough to the people who really need it. But also putting grocery stores in each 1 mile radius would solve the problem all together.

A solution I have found is that they should put more community and volunteer farms in the low-income areas. So, that the grocery stores have more access to fresh food, since they do not usually have a lot of money to buy it from large farms.
