⁕Scorpion~The scorpion symbolizes the evil that is found in nature, which is seemingly arbitrary and unmotivated, in contrast to the evil that is found in mankind, which is generally the result of selfish desire and greed.
⁕Pearl ~ The Pearl represents wealth and evil. When Kino first finds the pearl, it is a symbol of hope and salvation. But like wealth, the pearl represents all the evil in the world. It seems all the greed and evil surfaces in the presence of wealth.
⁕Canoe~The Canoe represents Kino's culture. It was his grandpa's and that was Kino's way for providing food.

⁕ Kino ~ "I am a man" , which is describing Kino is a dignified, hardworking, impoverished native who works as a pearl diver. He is a simple man who lives in a brush house with his wife, Juana, and their infant son, Coyotito , both of whom he loves very much. He changed form being a man that wouldn't hurt anything but when he found the pearl he became a man that would come to any costs to protect his pearl, even if it means killing a man.
⁕ Juana ~"She, who was obedient and respectful and cheerful and patient, could bear physical pain with hardly a cry. She could stand fatigue and hunger almost better than Kino himself. In the canoe she was like a strong man." Juana is a loving, doting, easy-going wife, but when her family is threatened by the evil the pearl is bringing to them, she shows her willingness to fight for her family. She changed from being a wife that stays in the shadow of her husband to then being someone who takes charge and is equal with her husband.
