We started the morning with a session from MRT Corp at the Sungai Buloh Depot, diving into their Net Zero and Public Transport Initiative. It was super duper eye-opening to learn how Malaysia is working on connecting public transport with sustainability goals. I even had the chance to ask a question during the discussion, and the best part was that the speaker said my question was a really good one and responded seriously. That moment made me feel confident and reminded me that curiosity really matters.

After lunch, we joined a session with APPGM-SDG, focusing on grassroots sustainability and community empowerment. I was inspired by how local communities can take part in building solutions for real challenges. The sharing session on empowering youth was also a highlight—listening to a founder talk about building a community based on problem-solving gave me so much motivation.

To close the day, my team, Group 8, spent time preparing for our final presentation tomorrow. It felt exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but the teamwork spirit made it enjoyable. Overall, today was a perfect mix of knowledge, inspiration, and preparation for what’s coming next.

Yesterday, we visited MRT Corp at the Sungai Buloh Depot to learn about the Net Zero & Public Transport Initiative. It was insightful to see how the transportation sector plays a major role in supporting sustainability goals and how innovative practices can contribute towards reducing carbon emissions.

After a lunch break, we attended a session with the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia for Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG). The sharing highlighted the importance of governance and community engagement, especially at the grassroots level, in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. It showed how collective efforts and local participation are essential for meaningful change.

Towards the end of the day, students prepared for their group sharing presentations. This preparation session gave us time to reflect on what we had learned throughout the visits and discussions, and how best to communicate these insights.💗

After lunch, we had an engaging session with APPGM-SDG, where we explored grassroots sustainability and community action. I learned a lot today, especially about how real change starts from the ground up. We ended the day preparing for our student sharing presentations—it was fun, productive, and full of teamwork. I really enjoyed working with my team and growing together!

These are the teachings I'd like to bring to the Philippines and allow me to create an impact in my community.

We also had a lecture about the role of grassroots in promoting and using the SDGs. It was a meaningful reminder that real change begins at the community level.

To wrap up the day, everyone got busy preparing for the student sharing presentations. Our team worked actively and creatively to make our video, putting in ideas, energy, and teamwork to bring it to life. It was not just about presenting, but about collaborating, laughing, and supporting each other while producing something we were proud of.

Day 9 was truly full of learning, fun, and strong team spirit!

Learning how long it takes to iron out the dependencies of a mega project also brings our home country's processes to a new perspective. Having more time to settle disputes and having mutual agreements with citizens (more than private corporations) is something to consider with more gravity in projects.
