  • This part of the exam is about how you understand attitudes and opinions, plus your ability to work out the overall meaning of what someone is saying.

  • One trap a lot of students fall into is hearing specific words on the audio and matching them with words in the options. If you hear the exact word it's 98% NOT the answer. Repeat - NOT THE ANSWER!

  • The answer can be in the middle or the end of each speech. Don't ever stop listening.

  • You listen twice - use the opportunity to check your answer the second time round.

    1. Read the introduction and predict the vocabulary you might hear according to the topic.

    2.Read the answers and spot key words, understand the meaning of these ideas. You will concentrate on listening for IDEAS NOT SPECIFIC WORDS.

    3.Listen closely and begin matching the answers with the speakers on your paper (not the answer sheet)

    4.Discard 3 options, remember only 5 will be needed.
