Mary was king henry the 8ths first born child she was technically the heir to the royal throne. though her parents divorce made it hard for her to become queen, by blood she became the first queen regent. it was hard growing up being such a catholic believer when her dad started the protestant church. when she became queen she tried to convert almost everyone to Catholicism and killed the ones who didn't want to convert.

Mary’s accession had changed the rules of the game, and the nature of this new feminized politics was yet to be defined, yet in many respects Mary proved more than equal to the task. Decisions over the details of the practice and power of a queen regnant became precedents for the future.
