I'm currently reading two independent reading books called "Dear Martin'' which is by Nic Stone, and ''Patina'' is by Jason Reynolds

I have just gotten the book ''Patina'' according to the front cover of the book it seem to be about a little girl that run track and she is trying to beat her. followed along by her going through many different hardships which makes it harder for her to beat the girls. My goals for this book it to read this book carefully and very often. As of what I predicted, I relate to this book because I used to run in cross country and I had this girl on my team that I've always wanted to beat in a race, and finally beat her, and I surprisingly beat her three times or more. The book " Patina I checked out from Dr. Gordills back class room, and I plan to really like this book.

I am reading The Memory of Things by Gae Polisner. Currently I am on page 27 of the book. Right now the main character Kyle is trying to help the girl he took home to his apartment and find out where she is from and what her name is. But when Kyle asked the question the girl responded with, “I don’t remember.” Thoughts are racing through my head and Kyle’s. How does a girl not remember her name? Or where she is from? I think that the girl might have some brain damage since she can’t remember her name. My reading goal for this week is to read everyday at home. I am going to read this weekend and stay consistent with my reading goal.
This picture shows the twin towers that fell on 9.11 and the bridge that Kyle was walking on when he was trying to get home.

For example on the front cover is two girls running I thought that the girl in the back tries to beat her in a race, but come to find out that s Patinas older sister. Patina tries to follow her sister footsteps in running track. I have many goals for this book, for example I am going to pace myself to finish reading this book less than three weeks.

Livia Mair - The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I am reading the Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It is about a girl who has lung cancer and a boy who has cancer too. I am up to page 40. So far the main character Hazel just met the boy Gus. They seem different but also sort of the same and they have a connection that many other people do not have. The book is very interesting, emotional and expressive and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I am still reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. As I read it I seem to be liking it more and more. I like the way the author expresses her point of view, and the way he describes emotions of the characters. I feel he makes it very understandable in a very relaxed and weird way i also like how he describes the relationships between the two main characters. He shows that they are falling in love by their actions but does not actually say it. I definitely recommend this book to others.

I am still reading The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I am now up to page about page 100. Although I am reading this book and I do really like it, it can be slow at some parts, and that is why I am reading it very slow. Again though I think I need to be more consistent with my reading at home and to continuously read everyday.

Again the book I am still reading is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I still really enjoy reading this book. it is easy and understandable and even though there are many big words, from the way the author writes you can easily use context clues to figure out what it means. I can't wait to find out what happens next, but it took a big turn in the book which to be honest surprised me completely and did not really make a lot of sense to me. I hope it goes back to normal in the story because this turn completely contradicted my predictions. I am not completely sure what might happen next and I would explain the turn I just don't want to spoil the book for everyone. I also think this would have happened to a lot of readers as well when reading this book. I think people might have had the same predictions and then have been surprised at this event, or thought that the main character portrays.

4-23-19: I am still reading the fault in our stars. my theory has still been contradicted and I don't know if it will go back to what I thought it would be. I am at a part that is pretty scary/ creepy, and it was so easy to happen that it could probably happen at any moment which was extremely dangerous for Hazel. I hope it does not happen again because it could put her at a big risk.

4-24-19: I am again reading this book.

4-26-19: I am still reading and right now I am getting to a more emotional part of the book. so far she is dying and she is really weak. She wants to see her favorite author before she dies but they are in a meeting right now and there really is no other way to save her life.

I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez.

Pt. 1
I'm currently on page 175 of the novel. Currently, the main character is preparing to apply to college and take some her test. While, she is at the book store she meets this guy name Conner. This is different for Julia because boys usually don't talk to her. I am interested to see what happens and how she's holding up after all the months after Olga's death. However, I can infer that she is in a better place mentally and emotional because she seems happier.
Pt. 2
I'm currently on page 243. The main character Julia has been going through really rough times so her mother sent her to Mexico to surround herself with her family. She also has learned much more about her sister Olga and what her life was like.
Pt. 3
I'm currently on page 305 of my IRB. The main character Julia has recently came back from her trip to Mexico. Overall, she is becoming more happier and her mother is giving her more freedom. In addition, she has confronted Olga's best friend about what she had found in her email. As I reach the ending of my book I am excited to see the growth and character development of the character Julia along with her friends and family.
Pt.5
I rate I am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez a 10/10. I give the book this rating because I enjoyed the ending and I loved the way the author writes. Overall, I feel like the book was relatable and I would love to read another book by the same author. I really grew a connection with the main character and I'm glad that she is moving on with her life after all the traumatic events that she has been through. Thus, I would definitely recommend this book to my classmates.

So far this book has talked about A dog named Bella who was rescued by a guy named Lucas. In this part of the book the dog Bella is very lost. She is separated from her home and current owner. She was found by Lucas in an abandoned building where he then rescued her. He is not sure if he will keep her yet and if the owner is going to get her.
I am on page 245 and chapter twenty one of the book A Dog's Way Home. Currently Bella is with Another family that has a dog named Dutch. It is very sad that Bella got separated from her family, she is in a good family now but wants to be with her last owner Lucas.
I am now on page 275 of the book A Dog's Way Home. In this book the dog Bella escaped the newer owners Taylor and Gavin. She felt that that home was not right for her and that she needed to be with Lucas.

Pt.1
I am currently reading The Parker Inheritance by Varian Johnson. In the book so far the two main characters Brandon and Candice find themselves in the middle of a scandal involving Candice's grandmother. The book separates into a story about Candice finding clues that explain why her grandmother did what she did and also between the person being that inspire or caused her grandmother to do what she did.
Pt.2
I am still reading The Parker Inheritance by Varian Johnson but only now that since we are caught up with who Big Dub was and why he was so important the author included an very important part in the story where Big Dub and his friend wanted his white coach at school to change his way of thinking about black people not being capable of doing the same things that the whites do. Big Dub and his friend pulled an horrible prank on the coach by putting an newspaper page they got from Big Dub's cousin up North and throw it on the coach's lawn. The coach came out his house and was upset but then his friend also came out and was yelling at Big Dub and his friends because they were unfortunately black and "worthless". The friend of coach was telling Big Dub that he was nothing and wasn't important. I wonder how it will continue.

Right now, Jena and Simon just had a huge fight and instead of working it out with him, she went to Josh for comfort instead. She was complaining about him and Josh got so happy, but then they got back together. Their relationship is not very steady. I wonder if they will break up soon. I know that would make Josh happy because he really wants to be with her. I will read more to find out if my prediction is right. Also, their relationship seems a little toxic and not very healthy, so I think they should break up too.

I am continuing to read Just Friends by Dyan Sheldon. Right now, I am on page 237. My independent reading goal is to finish this book by the end of the week. For my to be read pile, I am planning to start the new Dear Evan Hansen book after I finish Just Friends. It is called Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel by the creators of the Broadway musical. I love Dear Evan Hansen, so I am interested in reading a book based off of it. The book is at home, so I will not be checking out books.

I just read 10 more pages of Just Friends. Josh went with Carver to go shopping with his little sister because she was promised a shopping spree that day and only Carver could take her. Not wanting to go alone, he took Josh along with him. While shopping, Josh ran into Jena and Tilda who were shopping for dresses for their dance. Jena and her boyfriend made up and are still dating unfortunately for Josh. Meanwhile, Sal and Ramona are planning a "Non-Valentine's day Dance" to host. It is almost Valentine's Day. I predict that something big and chaotic will happen at their dances. I can't wait to read more to find out if my prediction is right!

The part I am reading is about Simone talking about gymnastics to her family and how she can't wait to start competing.

After reading 24 pages today, I learned a lot of new things about Simone Biles. The part I read about was her getting her first car and how she was super nervous to start driving. She was surprised by her parents with a blue-turquoise car which she added zebra-print interior in it. She talks about how she has to drive her sister to school in it and then she has to drive take a 45 minute ride to the gym for practice everyday.

I finished Helen Keller, so I got a new book called Lucky Broken Girl by Ruth Behar. So far the book is great! The book is about a small family that consist of a mother, father, sister and brother, but the book is wrote in the sister point of view. Its about the family moved from Cuba to New York City and they are not the richest family. So the father worked multiple jobs to supply the family with their basic needs. The father had tried really hard and he finally got enough money to get somethings that the kids really wanted. So Ruth got shes, Lizzie got a toy car, and the dad got a brand new car. The family wanted to go for a ride in the new car so they went to go visit some family that lived about an hour away they enjoyed themselves and on the ride home something terribly happened and they got into a car accident. I really like this book because it makes me want to read more and more.

The part I am reading about now is when Simone finds out that one of the coaches left the gym and is probably not coming back.

I am reading Becoming and so far it is really good. I really like how Michele Obama (the author) describes every part by suing really good and strong details. In each part of the book when she talks about different people like her brother or mother or even teacher she always makes sure that the reader knows who the character is by saying their name. In that part I am reading it is talking about the spelling bee for colors and how the word "white" in the beginning was a trouble for her and she "lost". But after the spelling bee she learned to try harder and that it is okay. This is where the love for school started. One question I had was when kids were acting up in class did it change her idea of school? Or did she still love/like it? I would rate this book so far an 8 because it is really good but I still haven't gotten so far into the book.

This book is AMAZING!. I personally love supernatural books and this book is an perfect example as to how and why supernatural and fictional books are the best. Out of 10 I would rate this book and 12. The book not only tells a story but also allow the readers to really connect with the readers and determine the mood/tone that is taking place for the characters. The main character Garth as we know from before was in the after world and was learning new things he didn't by the minute. It turns out that the "leader" of the under world wanted to kidnap Garth so he could never go back to the live world because it was said that you could never go back. The "leader" who goes by Vaugner fail countless of times even with his army of bugs. I am anxious to find out if Garth is captured or not.

Anyway, I think this book is helping me with my own races for track and field because I can really relate to Patina and her races. Overall, this book is amazing and I'm loving it.

I just started reading Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel by the creators of the hit broadway show. I always loved the musical ever since I first listened to the soundtrack, so I thought I would be interested in this book that is based off of it too. I have not read much and I am only on page 14 right now. So far we have been introduced to Evan, his mom, and we have learned about his life and backstory. I wonder if the book will be exactly like the play or if there will be some differences. Already I have noticed that the books quotes some of the songs from the play occasionally too! I cannot really rate this book yet because I have not read enough of it to rate it. Although, I just finished reading Just Friends by Dyan Sheldon and I would rate it an 8/10 because it entertained me a lot, but it is not the best book I have ever read. Usually, I read in my bed at night or at school when I finish my work.

His mom also helped to write this book to. She includes parts of her childhood from when she asked her father about what it was like during the time and finding out new information about his everyday life in Poland. The part of the book that I read about yesterday was the main character, Michaeal was talking about his family and how hard of a time they at the camps. Next, he talked about when he was born and as he grew up, what he had to go through and the struggle of trying to survive.

so i finish reading the book "Lebron James" the book is about well... obviously Lebron James and it summarizes it in a book. the book starts with Lebron's mom not having enough money to afford a house and they live in a friends house they also moved a lot because they didn't have enough money and a steady job. Lebron played for the schools basketball team in every school he went to. he was going to school with the same clothes every day. His mom got enough money to right him up to a club and the coach got to know them personally and offered them to live at his house until his mom got a job. Lebron was the best at his team. he then got noticed by him and his buddies and the Cavaliers contracted Lebron and his mom got a job and the rented an apartment near the Cavaliers.
He grew with the cavaliers and he got close to them. They got good places in the NBA tournaments but it wasn't what Lebron wanted. He wanted to win the NBA Tournament and become one of the best basketball players. He became famous and got his first talk show and grew his page. He then had to make a huge decision on Live TV to change teams from the Cavaliers to Miami Heat he accepted the offer for the Heat and became "the most hated athlete of all time" but then won the NBA finals and became who he is. He met Barack Obama Michelle Obama. He also gave a report that said that he always read books before matches to clear his mind and do his best in the game. my thoughts to lebrons life are pretty positive he is a well known man that is good at what he does and he finds time to educate himself which no athletes really got.

At the start of spring break, I was only up to page 20, but by the end of the break, I reached page 239. So, over break, I read over 200 pages! Since I drove to Florida for vacation for Passover, I had a lot of time to read while I was in the car on the long road trip and most nights, I read about a chapter before I went to sleep. The picture represents me going on the road trip. Also, my best friend lives in Caldwell and she is reading the same book for school too. Once we found out that we both were reading it we made a pact to discuss it for a little every few days. So, over the course of the week we would discuss the book and explain how we reacted to each major part. Now, I am ahead of her, so we will not be able to talk until she catches up to me. Anyway, now, Evan has already started the Connor Project with Jared and Alana and he started dating Zoe. Still, no one knows that Evan and Connor's whole friendship was a lie. I can't wait to read the part when he confesses the truth! Only about 100 pages left to go!

I have been trying to read about 4 pages everyday since it can be a lot of information to read at once since there is a lot even on one page. Even though it is taking a long time to get through its still really good. Right now I am up to the part about to the part where she is explaining about the fires and her family living in the apartment and moving. Reading this part was really sad as the reader because the fire could have really hurt her family especially because her father and mother lived in that house.

Cedar and Leo have grown closer to eachother since they are both working at the same place and learn more about each other and this women named Lisette Chamberlain who is an old actress that Leo is obsessed with. Leo is saving up money to go to London to see Hamlet in action. Cedar is lying to her mom every morning saying that she is going on long runs with Leo when she is actually doing early shifts with him learning about Lisette Chamberlain. Alsom back at home when Cedar first moved in, she kept seeing soemthing weird in her bedroom window like a dark figure. In chapter 19, she figured it was the turkey vultures. The vultures left a purple toothbrush with the letters, LC engraved in there. I can infer that the vultures had a relationship with Lisette and she lived in the house that cedar's in now and the vultures think it's her.

The boy has an friend Nate who is the president of the robotics club at the school they attend. Currently as far as I am aware of the ex-girlfriend of the basketball player wants to use all the money the robotics club have to get new uniforms they think will help them defeat the other cheer teams. The club obviously disagrees and since Holly and Nate both hate each other I can't wait to find out what happens after, if the girls come up with an plan or if the boys find a way to make the girls forget they needed the money

I just finished chapter 18 which was about Cedar going over Leo's house to watch a soap opera with Lisette Chamberlain starring. While watching it, Cedar discovers a ring on her finger and Leo hasn't noticed it before. Mind you, that was Chamberlain's last show considering her death at her hotel that night. Leo who has a copy of the police report, confirms everything that was found and the wedding ring is not mentioned. Cedar believes that maybe her ex husband Roger Marin took it from her because he was one of the 2 people listed on who visited Chamberlain at the hotel. I can't wait to read more and find out about this mystery.

There are 159 pages so I am doing pretty good. I should finish by tomorrow. This book is very touching and you learn about Sunny's character, lifestyle, and family. As said before, Sunny doesn't want to run he wants to dance. I thought he was gonna get kicked off the team but he actually has a new role on the team which is discuss throwing. Which is kind of like dancing as described in the book. Sunny is home schooled by his late mom's best friend Aurelia. They visit the hospital where his grandfather works and they dance for all the patient including this old guy who us currently in a coma. Sunny calls his father Darryl (his fathers first name) their relationship is mended on page 131. It is pretty sad. The father is so hung up on the mothers death that he wasn't a good father. He acknowledged his son but not enough, he pushed him way too hard and much. He barely knows anything about him or what he wants. But anyway, I love the story and can't wait to read more.

The story ended on Sunny's birthday, the day of his meet, and the day of his mother's death. It was the first meet he would be throwing the discus. His event was up first since there was only 3 people competing he went up first and got 2 fouls the book ended smoothly with Sunny on his 3rd try.

Okay, I am now reading this book called Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. It is SOOOOOO good. I started on monday and now I am currently on 283. There are 361 pages. I think I can finish by friday-saturday or maybe earlier. I am not going to give everything away but I am going to try to summarize it. It is about a girl named Xiamora and she is a poet who doesn't see herself as one at first. She is domincan, 15 years old, and has a body that makes the boys swoon, make the girls hate and call her names. She has a best friend named Ceridad, they are nothing alike. Shas a twin named Xavier. They are miracles to their parents. They both try to live up to their mother's standards. Xiamora isn't doing so well with that. They are a catholic family and the mother loves church. There are so many restrictions which leads xiamora to do sneaky things she shouldn't be doing.

I am reading Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes. It is about a black boy named Jerome getting shot at by a white police over. After reading 20 pages of Ghost Boys, it made me sad. The book goes from dead to alive, back and forth. When Jerome was alive, he wasn't popular like his little sister Kim. He got bullied and made fun of. But, he had high hopes and dreams for him self. He wanted to become a president like Barack Obama, become everyone's friend, and win a million bucks. Now that he's dead, he can't even fulfill these dreams so its sad because he had a bad school-life and now he's dead and his whole family has been saddened.

Im reading the Ghost boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes the book is very interesting its about a kid named Jerome that got shot by a white police oficer that had a daughter and a rich family. First of all the book starts off by describing Young Jerome's life, how he was doing to school, his friends that were bullying him but the most important stuff are when Jerome got aproached by another kid and he got given a toy gun that looked real the other kid then left and Jerome had to hold the toy gun to his hand while going home thats when the police officer saw him and he shot him because aparently he was scared of his life because he saw a black kid holding a toy gun and he shot him because he was scared, when jerome died he didnt realy die because he was a ghost he could see everything go through walls and hear. But there was something strange, VERY strange do you remember the officer that shot Jerome, well her daughter could see, hear and even talk to Jerome while he was dead. At the begining they weren't friends because of her dad, Jerome didn't want to hear from her even though she was the only one that could see him.....well as Jerome thought so. Yes there were other kids that had unfortenetly died in a young age and became "Ghost Boys" they were the only people Jerome could talk to.
