         <title>Bunsen Burner Flame Test</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When you dip a clean wire loop into substances such as salt solutions (like CaCl<sub>2</sub>) and then hold it over the bunsen burner, the flame will turn a certain color. This change of color is evidence that a chemical reaction is taking place. <br>For example, when LiCl solution is heated over a Bunsen burner, the flame will turn Red Orange, however the crystal of LiCl is clear.          <description><![CDATA[<div>When you bake something, it is a chemical reaction because the food becomes a new substance. To be more specific, it is an exothermic reaction because the food releases warm air when being baked in the oven. <br>When you bake something like cookies, a sweet <strong>aroma is released</strong>, which is evidence a chemical reaction is taking place.<br>The picture below shows warm cookies coming out of the oven and with your smelling sense you would be able to smell the aroma.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Baking Soda and Vinegar reaction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After placing a thermometer into a small cup with vinegar and recording the temperature and then adding baking soda, a chemical reaction takes place. If you begin with room temperature vinegar, typically after the reaction the temperature will decrease by 7 degrees Celsius (carbon dioxide is also produced). This is called an endothermic reaction since air was released decreasing the temperature.          <title>Alka Seltzer in Water</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When an Alka Seltzer tablet is dropped in water, it fizzes. Bubbles rise to the surface of the water from the tablet. Once the tablet is in the water, it starts dissolving and releases a gas that rises to the surface to escape. In the image below, you can see the tablet in water, and the bubbles above it. The tablet is fizzing, and creating gases, which proves this a chemical change. </div>]]></description>

If you were to have an iron nail, and it was left out for a while, it would combine with oxygen/the moisture in the air to create the rust on top of the iron nail. In the image below, you can see a pile of rusted nails. They have been left out, and over time, a new substance, rust, has been created on top of the original nail, and since a new substance was created, this shows a chemical reaction. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When sugar is heated, it liquefies, and begins to change color. It slowly goes from being pure white to brown. The heat causes the atoms of the sugar to react with the atoms in the air, which form new groups of atoms. These new groups change the color. In the image below, you can see the original sugar and the sugar that has turned brown from heat. The color change of the sugar proves that this is a chemical reaction. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Magnesium Sulfate &amp; Sodium Carbonate</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Magnesium sulfate and&nbsp; sodium carbonate are two clear liquids. When you combine them, a white solid forms. The particles from each solution work together to create this new solid.&nbsp;The temperature did not change, nor anything else, just the two solutions were combined. This proves that a precipitate was created, which means that a chemical reaction occurred. In the image below, you can see a woman pouring sodium carbonate into magnesium sulfate. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The sodium carbonate starts as a white powder, and the hydrochloric acid starts as a clear liquid. When they are combined, the new solution begins to fizz, and then the container that the new solution is in begins to increase in temperature. As you can see in the image below, the two substances react. Though you cannot feel the temperature change, the container is slightly warmer than before the reaction. <br>(Image will be added in class)</div>]]></description>

When the temperature is increased near sugar, the bonds in sugar begin to split up and change.&nbsp;This changing of the bonds has multiple effects, including color change and emitting an aroma. The sugar emits a smell after being heated, which proves that it is a chemical reaction. As you can see in the image below, sugar has been heated, and even though you cannot see it, it is giving off a sweet smell.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
