Struggling learners found their voice

In structured talks, they now rejoice

Key vocabulary took flight

Empowering speech, clear and bright

Eighth graders armed with words precise

Their arguments began to rise

Scaffolding built, support in place

Each learner found their rightful space

Debate skills flourished, minds ablaze

BRISK Boost leading through the haze

Now hooks are cast with greater ease

Familiarity brings expertise

In AVID's class, debates unfold

Young minds grow confident and bold

Through BRISK Boost's power, we've found a way

There was a lot of information covered today. I am really excited about the Brisk Boost activities, and I am also thrilled at the thought of reading with my 8th grade Wolf Pack. The chance to read one more book with them (or a few depending on how the first goes), has my heart all aflutter with excitement. Reading out loud is the best. I see the need to reflect over sub-par exemplars with my teaching teammate to establish goals for our students that are still not meeting grade level standards. We can set aside intentional planning time for that. Overall, I am reading to head into these next three weeks with intention and purpose.

We thought the session on frontline was useful.

also how confusing it can be for students if warmups and bell ringers and do-now are all the same thing, but teachers call these activities by different names.

We're using meant different words for similar tasks across middle school. Need to work on aligning verbage.
