The COVID-19 and cholera pandemics have taught us important lessons about the critical need of prompt, well-coordinated responses to infectious disease outbreaks. We have learned from cholera how important it is to have rapid access to sanitary facilities, clean water, and oral rehydration therapy in order to stop the disease from spreading widely. Both outbreaks have demonstrated the need for flexible approaches and ongoing enhancements to public health protocols, highlighting the significance of drawing lessons from the past to better equip future infectious disease management teams for obstacles.
