My reaction included awe and excitement on every page. This was one of my favorite books by Tui. The only thing I didn't like much was the fact that the main characters didn't decide to visit the Icewings, a tribe of dragons on Pyrrhia. However, the original plot was also very exciting and I would recommend this book to anyone who like fantasy and fiction or a good adventure! -Heba Touijar

I found this book to be very interesting because it is told by a child, Perry T. Cook. He is taken out of his home, Cell Block C, in a small Nebraska Prison. He didn't commit any crimes, but he was raised there. Moving from his home causes him to have to adjust to a new life, all while facing bullying, lies, and having to figure out the truth on his own. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes surprises and longer novels. I did not like how Halsey Barrows, a fatherly figure to Perry, had to leave in the midst of crisis, leaving Perry to be even more independent. Overall, this book was inspiring, and showed that no one can be taken away from their true home and family. - Tanya Jabcuga

I like it because it shows the story through many peoples eyes and what their thinking. I dislike it because it doesn't switch character's perspective fast enough. It's one place before the whistles and another after. Before the cannery whistle blows, its "iron and rust and splintered wood, chipped pavement and weedy lots and junk heaps." After the cannery whistle blows, its men and women running down to the row to go to work. They go to clean, cut, pack, cook and can the fish. When the whistle blows at the end of the day, it goes back to what it was before. - Ricky Long

This story that takes place is unique to me. I’ve read a lot of books with magic and monsters or magic lamps, but this book is different. It shows that magicians don’t have to be people in cloaks and huge beards or live in a cave with a cauldron. They can live in the middle of a city and they can be in the government. It also shows how monsters/demons don’t have to crash into everything and eat people with their huge body's and gnashing teeth instead they can be cunning, good humored, rude, and are able to change form at will. That is why I really enjoyed this book and I don’t have any complaints. This on my top five most loved books I strongly suggest you read it.

-Áryeh David Vetö

This book tells the stories of three different refugees and their families. Each person is living in a different point in history. Josef is a Jewish boy living in Nazi Germany during World War 2, Isabel, a Cuban girl trying to escape the confusion in her country in 1994, and Mahmoud, a boy looking for refuge from 2015 civil war taking place in Syria. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes reading realistic fiction or historical fiction books.
-Kira Casucci

Freakling is a novel about a young boy who lives in Deliverance, a place where everyone is born with a type of telekinesis called psi. Not having this will get you banished to The Powerless Colony and thus, being deemed "Freakling". Like the others in Deliverance, Taemon is born with Psi. He is also born with a special power called mind-wandering that he is told never to use. When given a horrific choice between sparing the life of his naive brother or giving up his psi, he chooses to lose his psi and gets transferred to The Powerless Colony. There he learns that psi isn't everything. I do not like how The Powerless Colony and Deliverance have to be separated. Overall this is an exciting novel that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys adventure.

-Tanya Jabcuga

Football then and wow is about how football has grown through the years since 1940 to now. Won thing it has grown by is the rules. The first rules of football was written at the Massasoit Convention in Massachusetts, led by Yale university player and coach Walter Camp. Camp is known as the father of American football. Scoring touchdown was made to four to five points. A field goal went from being five points to four points. in 1909 it was changed to three points . In 1906 the forward pass was mad legal but the passer had to be five yards behind the line of scrimmage in . in 1912 a touchdown score was made to 6 points. It became legal to make a forward pass from anywhere behind the line of scrimmage in 1933 . In 1935 the first official NFL book was published. In 1943 helmets became mandatory. in 1962 grabbing facemasks became illegal. In 1974 goal post was moved from the front of they end zone to the back. The NFL season was moved from 14 games to 16 games. Quarterbacks were allowed to were audio headsets in 1994 to hear plays from coaches. A coaches challenge system was added to instant replay rules. A penalty for excessive celebration was released. Horse collar tackles were deemed illegal. Overtime the rules were changed for the regular season. it was no longer sudden death unless the first team with the ball scored a touch. The controversial tuck in which a Quarterback was not charged with a fumble if he lost the ball while attempting to bring it back to there body. That rule was eliminated. Other things that have grown is the football, the shoulder pads, the helmets, the stadiums, and the salaries.

As I said in my first review, the chapters are written in a character's perspective. These chapters were all Hazel's perspective. Hazel is a daughter of Hades and she can pull all of the precious metals from the ground. She has a magic horse that breaks the sound barrier when it runs. Hazel must now travel to find her friends Percy and Annabeth. She was given a choice of paths by the goddess of the mist and each path had different obstacles to pass. Hazel chose North, the most challenging, but most rewarding one. ~ Ricky Long
