Tensile strength: It is good in the longitudinal direction and poor in the transverse direction.
Compressive strength: It is better in the transverse direction than in the longitudinal direction.
Flexural strength: It was very used in the past to make posts beames and constructions of many structures.
Hardness: It depends on the tipe of wood. In general the wood is not very hard and it is easier to work with it. But it is hard enough to be sturdy.
Thoughness: Wood is though so is used in sports squipments like hockey sticks.
Thermal and electrical conductivity: Wood  is a good insulator of heat and electricity so this is the reason why the wood is used to make handless for tools.
Sound conductivity: This is because certain musical instruments are made of wood.
Colour: For each different tipe of wood a different colour (white, yellow, brown, black).
Density: Wood is a light material.
