         <description><![CDATA[<p>After reviewing the reading from this course, I have learned that counselor burnout and fatigue is a widely talked discussed potential repercussion of providing counseling services. I think what is important to remember is that burnout not only effects yourself but also your clients. They receive less quality care and more disengagement from sessions. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Self care is important in order to combat the burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary trauma that counselors can potentially face when working with clients. Being aware of these conditions helps you become more self aware in identifying the signs of these conditions as well as developing coping techniques to practice self care in order remain effective as a counselor. Equally, by taking care of yourself, a counselor can be emotionally resilient and more present in client sessions and truly serve as a model for emphasizing the importance of emotional and physical wellness.  <br>&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

         <title>Personal Self Care Strategies </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>There are several ideas of things/activities that can be used to practice self care including:</p><p>-setting boundaries at work</p><p>-mindfulness practices</p><p>-journaling/reflecting</p><p>-set realistic expectations and workload</p><p>-step away and take a guilt and work free break</p><p>-surround yourself with a positive community </p><p><br/></p><p>The two I would like to focus on are setting boundaries for work and surrounding myself with a positive community. It is important to set boundaries for work as to not confuse the line between personal life and work life and fully enjoy your personal life.  This can lead to a decrease in burnout and allow for better mental wellbeing. By surrounding yourself with a positive community, you can decrease stress and have an emotional support system. This positive community people can help navigate through challenges, encourage you, and celebrate achievements. </p>]]></description>
