Dua, Jia, Lima, Munru, and Ted are monitoring along one of the transects in their school. Dua and Jia are both spotters, while Lima, Munru, and Ted are the identifier, recorder, and photographer respectively.

As they walk along the transect, they chat about a TikTok video Lima and Ted saw yesterday. Munru then happens to see a bird flies out from a nearby tree to a nearby rooftop and informs the rest.

Dua and Jia rush to spot the bird using their binoculars. As they observe, they describe the bird as follows. Dua says, “It looks like a Kingfisher because its beak is long and wide.” Jia says, “I think so too! The throat is lighter than the rest of the body, but I cannot tell the colours.”

As Dua and Jia share their observations, Lima says, “It might be a White-throated Kingfisher then! Munru, can you record that we saw one White-throated Kingfisher?” Munru does not hear Lima as he has borrowed Dua’s binoculars to look at the bird.

Meanwhile, Ted tries to photograph the bird on the rooftop using his phone camera. He captures a photograph and deletes it as he feels the quality is too bad to be helpful for identification.

-I think Munru should not have been so distracted by the binoculars and trying to spot the birds and listened to Lima
- They should have stuck to their roles and were not focused on his role
