Growing up with these books were a blast. Its just stuck to me because of how short and sweet it was to learn about a adventure of a boy and his dog. It was with these series of books that I learned how to read also which is also something that I wont really forget. I connected with this of the way the author wrote the stories of the adventures. But I think that the reason why the author wrote this book like this is for kids to just mainly have fun when reading it. No ones wants a boring adventure book. For example the way the author wrote, "And now when he walked, he thought about vanilla ice cream, rain, rocks, and good dreams. He walked to school but not too fast. He walked to school and sometimes backward." For example dolls, I loved how the author made it so that the dolls didn't just become alive instantly like magic. She made the the doll oath which is that they vow not to be seen by humans moving around or anything, technically it is sort of magic but you have to actually follow strict rules. Also I loved how they were made out of china which means that they can not do what other dolls can. Like the fun-crafts who are plastic and can do whatever they'd like. Something that sticks to my mind about this book is the way of authors writing is pretty interesting. Because the china dolls are old they speak a bit different then the fun-craft family. I really connect with the main character Annabelle doll because of the way she was so adventurous and she wasn't scared to go explore to rescue her aunt risking her being in doll state. Although I think that the author wrote this book like this to show that friends could be made no matter what your difference might be. Just like the Doll people it was kind of olden days. To be more specific the year was 1884 so it was pretty old. Not only that but I have a big interst in not just old books but stories about orphans. Any book that has a story line with an orphan is something that always sticks with me because orphans are usually great characters and most of the time have huge hearts for others. The way the author wrote on the story although wasn't like really because she could have gone into SO much detail to make things much more interesting. When something like scary were to happen the author was way to direct but that is just something about the author I do not like. But what did impact me is the small quotes in the story that sometimes you have to stop reading and think about them a bit. For example: "Odd, isn’t it? Ever since I read it the most part that stuck out to me is the small/big lesson that it teaches. The author shows that no matter what you go through for someone not always will they notice nor appreciate the trouble and work. Even if its for your own sibling. I think in a way that I would connect with the main character because she was brave enough to go through a hurricane to mate someone who she hasn't seen in years. And that's something really that connects with me because that shows true family love. And you kind of dont expect any of it. Its the type of book that starts off with your regular college teen life but as it progresses it slowly starts to push you off of your chair to the edge. It has mystery, love, trapped souls, and a bit of thriller. What has stuck with me since the last time I read this book is that the people who you think are the bad ones turn out to be the best you'll find in the book. Also the love that the boy has the Liv is very heart warming. Even if she is a ghost he would open the doors and let her come in first not even being able to see her. Although I liked how the author did not forget about the dead souls stuck at the school but she kept like little diaries of their every day lives in the woods or on their tree or anything. Which was helpfully to solve the mystery in the book. What sticks out in my mind about it is that you sort of start losing hope and you think that everything fine but then the big boom happens and its very heartbreaking. The author worded everything perfectly an I loved it about the book. The characters were something that mainly anyone could connect to because its about something that could happen to anyone. I think that this impacted me in a very good and sad way because this book really makes you cry. But what stuck out about the book was that in the begining it started with a symbol and that symbol carried on through out the book and the series. Which was the Angels, the author made it so that the main characters would have to go through a life changing experience and in the end need the angels at the most. On top of that an Angel is what caused the life or death situation with the accident and death and the quests. I loved and connected with the main character Ivy because although loved blinded her she still stood and smiled for everyone and never gave up hope for the one that she lost because love never dies in her eyes. The way this impacted me was with a heart breaking ending.
