Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darknessThat most frightens us.We ask ourselvesWho am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.Your playing smallDoes not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinkingSo that other people won't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine,As children do.We were born to make manifestThe glory of God that is within us.It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine,We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.As we're liberated from our own fear,Our presence automatically liberates others.

The parts of the book I am currently going through focus on building the therapeutic frame and setting boundaries and understanding why they exist. It has me focusing this week with clients on understanding their attempts to push the frame or how their anxiety informs their inquisition about myself as the therapist.

Edit/Addition.
Currently nearing the conclusion of the book wherein it explores termination both in discharging due to completion and understanding ways client's leave therapy which may not be fulfilling for the clinician. It helps to broaden my understanding and ease my own anxieties when client's don't achieve what I feel the goals of treatment include. It also helps to decrease anxiety throughout sessions to understand and read seasoned clinicians discuss fit and how we can't help every client which may result in early termination.

I am reading this book and have been finding the research fascinating on how different types of meditation (the author presents us 4 types) apply to different disorders, e.g., depression is an inactivity of the frontal alpha, and Transcendent Meditation brings the alpha down, so people who already have depression will be even more depressed, which means that this is not the best technique to suggest to clients with this disorder. Anyway, it's worth the read also to start understanding about brain waves and how they impact our wellbeing.
