FRY SYSTEM BREAKDOWN

A link to the website, including your rational for selecting this health information website

I used https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/whatishiv.html for information in regards to AIDS patients and their medical breakdown.

The method used to analyze readability and what your results were

I decided to use the Fry system to break down the syllables in the three 100 word passages. The average syllable amount between 3 paragraphs was 137 syllables. This averages between a 9th grade and 10th grade reading level. Recommendations to better the website based on your SMOG or Fry Formula assessment

Based on the fry assessment, I think that this would be very beneficial to younger children as they begin to learn how to read. Children are always taught to “sound out the words”, but if they know syllable amounts too, they can figure out what the word could be. Sort of like figuring out a puzzle. The CDC should take this into consideration and try to use words that have less syllables to break down the reading level further. Not all people are educated to that point in school.
