Just on the first day he met the "Indians" and enslaved over 6 of them. Later the europeans wanted to convert the Natives Americans to believe in christianity and made praying towns where they forcefully converted the Natives Americans. Many were enslaved and tortured and eventually killed. These diseases are usually associated with domesticated livestock. Because the native americans were generally in better health did not have any livestock they had no natural immunity to these illnesses. This smallpox epidemic took the lives of over 10,000 native americans and that is not including the casualties from the war that took place as well. Even though conflict between the Native Americans and the Europeans existed ever since shortly after the arrival of the first colonists. This overall conflict lasted for around 300 years but one of the biggest moments of the warfare was around 1675 to late 1676. The sheer amount casualties from both sides were so large that this was considered one of the deadliest conflicts in American history. This movement sparked when there has been a large number of hate crimes targeting Asian Americans. This might be because of the recent racist tweets made by former president Donald Trump. Donald Trump has tweeted about calling the coronavirus "Kung flu" or other racist names. This may have been part of the motivation for the recent hate crimes.
