As far as writing, students have written on modified Cornell notes about plot, characterization, figurative language, conflict, and setting. We discuss this in class after the students write the notes. We pick cards and students give an example of one of the characters and settings etc. The students also are able to listen to audio books of our novels. We are currently working on writing an explanatory paragraph on the theme of our novel, The Graveyard Book. We will be having discussions in class about the theme of the novel, Graveyard Book.
