Addams' opinion may have also been controversial, since she believed women should stay in the domestic dome, while others such as Stanton, Anthony, and Gage would likely be against this sentiment. While these women would benefit from uniting in their goals, the reformers specifically struggled with views regarding the rights of white women. As a result, they would conflict in interests. However, such women who were fighting for temperance rights and better tenement conditions would get along better as they are in greater positions of power, naturally considering their social status, to improve quality of life. Some believed in temperance as rationale for the right to vote, that the home perspective entitled women to the right to vote, and that the voting rights should be allowed regardless or race.
