In this video, it covers how families were affected during this time period. It explains that men had a fear of being unemployed whereas women tended to fear having more children meaning they had more mouths to feed which wasn't ideal given their situation and environment. A lot of people were looking for jobs and had less time for things , which meant that the rate of babies being born was decreasing majorly. Many families had to help each other with the money they earned from their small family shops. They're source of shelter was living above of these shops.

This photograph demonstrates how much the family was struggling. They didn't live in houses and were mostly homeless and very poor. It portrays the idea that they need jobs to feed themselves and their kids. By having a few kids this makes families struggle even more.

“Family flats” were a type of house and buildings divided by a landlord into very small apartments, mostly always overcrowded and in poor condition, and were also known as tenements. This type of housing was most of the time the only option for poor families. The place in this picture was in Los Angeles in a neighborhood that no longer exists called Bunker Hill. Poor families who lived in these conditions had higher chances for catching diseases and dying.

This poem reflects on the society as a whole and not just the author reflecting on his or her experiences during this time. It tells that they managed to get through this even though it had a lot of catastrophes and that it was a time where there wasn't a lot of happiness. By the way the poem is constructed for example "Where it says “ There were the usual celebrations , the sorrows” It was split into two verses or statements which changed the tone of the poem to a sort of depressing feeling.

This photograph shows families who migrated from place to place to find a better lifestyle or job opportunities. It shows that the biggest incline was in the northeast because people were mostly migrating up and down the east coast. Every family who was struggling would move somewhere else for them and their children but sometimes the same outcome would happen.

This political cartoon shows the struggles of families in poverty. As in the image they are in debt to everything. having bank problems and unemployment. Families have to find a way to find money to afford all of these problems while maintaining food and shelter for them and their kids if they have any.

This political cartoon demonstrated the struggles of the unemployed. About 25% of the workforce was unemployed. People who had lost their jobs began to sell 5 cent apples on the streets of American cities. It portrays a symbol of the economic hardships during this era.

In this photo people from the great depression era are lined up in front of a restaurant. They are going in for free meals that are provided for them. The owner of the shop was a friend to the poor when they needed it when everyone else turned their backs on them. Families would come here when they had no other resort and when the men became unemployed.

This graph shows the unemployment rate during this time. It was shown that there started to be an incline in unemployment around 1931 only two years after this era commenced. As this era reached 1932, a lot of families and men were losing jobs or looking for new ones. Most people who had money who invested in the stock market lost a lot of their savings after the Wall street crash.
