OJIN is a nursing platform that discusses current issues in the nursing field which is what my topic deals with so it makes it a perfect fit. When it comes to the nursing shortage, the lack of educators to meet the demand of nursing student applicants is one of the biggest obstacles causing the shortage. There are not enough educators to teach, and nursing applicants are turned away. This is an important source because it highlights how Washington state is developing resources to provide funds for nursing education. Different platforms are working together to help attain larger salaries for nursing educators, which can provide incentives for more nurses to pursue a nursing education degree. If there are more educators and funding for nursing programs, then it can help increase the enrollment of nursing students.

They’re so many sources on the nursing shortage, it is important to not allow bias into the research, or base the research off of something similar that you’ve read. The study cannot be addressed in other reports, it must be original. 

Another challenge would be the peer review process and making sure the data is accurate, finding the sample size and how to break it down into the two areas of focus from my PICOT. I would need a population from a healthcare facility or facilities to determine the hiring criteria or how they find RN’s to fill their open positions and then finding educators and education programs to use in my study. Learning how to combine these interventions and comparisons with my nursing problems seemed very difficult. These two areas, if not done correctly and produce valid results, could interfere with the study getting published and approved by peers.
