Group
Gina- Bass
Ben- Guitar
Julia- Vocals
Jess- Drums
Carl- Guitar
Aims
-Choose a decade
-Chords to pick
-Word out lyrics
-Work out a structure

This week we decided to pick the 50's as our chosen decade. We thought that it might be an interesting decade to start with because it is quite heavy on guitars and we have two skilled guitarist in our group. We managed to get the basics of the song down pretty quick because Carl had an idea and we kind of just built the idea up from there. Julia managed to created some lyrics and i managed to get a basic drum beat down. We agreed for next week that we need we have to try and finesse the drumming pattern and the guitar solo that Ben will be creating. We met all of our aims for this lesson and we said that we gave maximum in writing the song. We said that we all need to do a bit of improvement on what we are playing but that's it. In my opinion i think that we managed to get everything down well enough and that with a bit of practice we will able to get it filmed for next week.

We spent about half of the lesson practising it and making sire we had the drums and the guitar right and that they were in time. When we did perform it things went completely different from when we practised it. Carl ended up putting things like distortion on guitar when it wasn't meant to be there and that kind of changed the style of the song and also in one part of the song he changed how part of the song was played and it threw me off what i was playing on the drums and i couldn't really keep playing because i'm not a drummer and when people change things suddenly it does throw me off big time. In my opinion i think we need to re-do the song again because in the end i think everything just went wrong with this song.
We then after this sat down and discussed ideas of what we would like to do, we then decided that we should try out a 70's disco song. We started to try and built the basics of the disco song down but the lesson finished shortly after us discussing what we wanted to do.

Aims
-start new song
-Decide decade
-Sort a structure out
-Decide what chords need to be used.

This week we planned that we were going to do a disco style song from the 70's.
Throughout the lesson we just kept working on how the disco song was going to be structured and how to fit certain things into the song like vocals. I think that overall we did manage to meet some of our aims because we picked a decade for our songs, we sorted out how we wanted to structure of the song but the only thing is we only had chords for the verse, but we still tried to get things done. In my opinion i think this lesson was a bit of a fail because nobody was listening to each other and what peoples ideas were, also i think that people weren't really into the idea of the genre but because someone in our group suggested it i think that everyone else just went along with it to make things easier. But hopefully for the next week we could maybe get the song finished and finessed so that we can perform it.

Aims
-Try and create a new song
- Pick a decade
- Get the basics of the song down
-Make sure they're set chords in place

This week we have had to work around some problems that occurred. The first one was that Ben hadn't turned up due to problems, but we still tried to work around this. We tried to create another song, which we chose the decade of the 10's (modern day) and we thought it would be a good idea to create an indie pop song, we decided what chords we wanted to, the structure and the lyrics. We tried to include carl but every time we asked for ideas or for him to try and join in with us he would just be a bit rude towards us and he left the room after that. We finally got part of the song sorted out. During this practice i was on the drums but i didn't really seem to fit with the song so we decided for next week that i would try and play bass for the song instead because it would probably fit better with the song. We also agreed that next week that we need to incorporate Ben and Carl to this song if they are here. We met all of our aims this week, unlike last week. We created a new song and picked the decade which was 10's, we got all of the basics of the song such as the song structure, lyrics, how fast or slow is the song going to be, what will the mood of the song be etc, we also managed to get a set of chords for the whole song down as well.

Aims
-Incorporate Ben and Carl
- Sort out which parts people will be playing
- Run through the song
- get bass line sorted

This week started off not very well. We had to all chat about where things were going wrong and what are peoples problems. We all agreed that nobody really listens to what other peoples ideas are and how some people like to have their way a bit to much and really listen to what other peoples ideas are. After this we went into going back into doing what we was doing last week and try to incorporate Ben and Carl into the piece that we had written. We showed them the song we had wrote and told them and then asked how they would like to contribute towards the song. Ben couldn't really play anything due to personal problems so he helped out by giving us his opinion on how the song could be improved, Carl then went and tried to play something on piano, he played something that did fit with the song at first but as the lesson progressed he kept changing what he had and by the end it didn't really fit into the song, we all explained to him this problem but he wouldn't listen to us so he just waled out of the room and bailed on doing the song. I managed to fit the bass into the song but the only thing is i would need to practice the song a bit more to get the hang of what i'm meant to be playing. We kind of met our target this week by trying to incorporate Ben and Carl but that didn't really work out, we managed to get what i'm meant to be playing on the bass sorted out, we made sure we knew what everyone else was playing and lastly we ran through the song a few times.

Aims
-Pick a decade and genre
- Have a structure to the song
-Try and get the new song at least finished
- Run through the previous song a few times.

This week it's just me, Gina and Julia in our group. We decided that we wanted to go for a 90's style song. I suggested that we should look at bands such as Oasis, the Stone Roses, Blur, Nirvana and Stereophonics for influences to our song because we only have a few instruments the play on because there isn't many of us in the group so if we look at music that is heavy on drums and guitar it might help us out. We managed to get the basics of the song out like and drum beat, guitar rhythm, chords and vocals down and sorted. We kept running through this song for the majority of the lesson and towards the end we practised the previous song until the lesson was finished. In my opinion i think we did a good job trying to get some songs done with the situation we are in, we have managed to create songs with a limited number of instruments and suddenly we have had to change how we create some songs but we still managed to do it. We also was able to meet all of our targets so i would rate us a 10/10 for effort.

Aims
- To try and finesse the 2 songs we have wrote
-Run through the songs
-Try to perform the songs

For most of the lesson we practised through the songs that we had wrote in previous lessons. We went through things like timings and also i got told that i should at least try the drums again for the indie pop song and see how it goes but if it doesn't sound right then we will re film it and put me on bass instead. We filmed both of the songs but they didn't really turn out well, they're many things that we need to improve on. In my opinion i don't think that anyone way really confident on the songs but we wanted them out the way so we could write other songs as well. We all agreed that we are going to be filming them again next week because we know that we can do a lot better than what we did. I think for next time i need to play bass in the indie pop song because i'm definitely not confident on drums at all but it is just where people keep telling me that i should be so i'm going to make the decision and put my foot down and play bass because i'm more confidant on bass than i am drums. For the indie song i think that we should but some sort of effect on the guitar to make the piece sound more full and together because it seemed like something wasn't right in that song. I am going to take on the feedback of have some creative flare and looking confident while playing my instruments as well.

We got the feedback that we wanted, of that i sounded a lot better in comparison to last week, and we also met the target of that it sounded very 90's due to the guitar and the effect on the guitar. We also had a lot more creative flare than the week before so that also helped us. For most of the lesson we was just practising theses songs inside and out so that we could make them better. We also swapped me out of drums for bass in the indie pop song as well.

Aims
- try and at least have 2 more songs done
- have some sort of structure to them
-have chords sorted out
-have a rhythm sort out for the bass and the drums

This week our group was me, Joe, Gina and Julia. We decided that we would let Joe join our group because he was in the same situation as our group was in of that members had left or that people had decided not to show up for this lesson.
We decided that we wanted to get at least 2 songs done because that is how many more we all needed. For the two songs we decided to go 80's disco/rock mash up and a 2000's indie rock song. We managed to meet all of our targets but the songs weren't really that good due to us having to throw them together last minute. We all agreed that they definitely needed more things to be added to the song because sometime something on one of the instruments didn't sound right or the vocals were a bit off. We agreed that we are going to try and re do them if we can to make them a lot better and make them worthy of a high grade. We all agreed that the songs were all a bit rushed and unorganised and that's what we need to sort out the most. In my opinion i think that this whole term has been a bit difficult with the groups because everyone's taste of music or ideas clashed and this is where everything wen't wrong in my opinion because nobody would listen i think if it wasn't for the fact of nobody wanted to listen to everyone's ideas we might of had a chance to have 2 more really good songs from this term. I think that from the songs today we need more practice and people to consider going outside of what they like and try and at least find a middle and with that we would re do the songs and they could be really graet.

The two sons from last week were recorded in Lozz's lesson. We made sure that we sorted the timings, structure, pitching, sound levels, were sorted out because last week we kind of tried to write two songs really quick because we all only had a few songs actually done and recorded because of issues that went of in both groups of people not being here or people refusing to help out song. But we managed to get the songs done and improve them massively from the previous week. We still kept the same arrangement of who was on which instruments so for the 80's disco/rock song it was Gina on bass, Julia singing, Joe on drums and myself on guitar. And for the 2000's indie rock song it was Julia on guitar, Gina on bass, Joe on drums and myself singing. Even though the songs were massively improved from last week we all still know that there could have been more added to it to make it better and that there still was more room for us to improve the songs.

80's Disco/Rock style song.

This week Joe needed another song for his Originals so Gina, Julia and myself thought that we could help him out because he helped us with the last 2 songs. We ended up going for a 70's punk style. We brainstormed ideas of what a 70's song has included in it, such as fast drum beat, fast guitar, usually lyrics rioting against things like the government and royalty and also it didn't need to be completely polished off and it can sound a bit messy because that was what punk was it was had a bit of an unfinished sound to it and the vocals didn't need to be perfect. We tried to go for theses ideas to create the song. We ended up creating a really fast song which fitted the criteria that we was going for. There was still room for us to improve it but this is all we could do in the period of time that we had. In the song we had a fast drum beat and a fast guitar rhythm to fit into the punk style for the guitar I mainly used 5th chords for the song, the bass could have been a bit louder because you couldn't really hear it but we said that if we need to redo this then we would make sure the bass can be heard.
