By Hired Coach
There is a setting down point on Southwark Bridge, with approximately 40 uneven steps leading to the riverwalk. Wheelchairs can access Shakespeare's Globe by taking Sumner Street on the right beyond the bridge and turning right into Emerson Street which leads into New Globe Walk.

The Globe aims to continually update and improve their provisions for diverse audiences.

The Globe Education team are able to personalise and tailor workshops for those with special educational needs or disabilities.

Every day, hundreds of students take part at the Globe's Lively Action workshops and lectures, which include an exploratory tour of the theatre. They offer a range of workshops for every key stage and ability. They have extensive experience of working with groups with special educational needs, international groups and those with English as an additional language.

Lively Action takes its name from John Marston’s preface to The Malcontent in which he apologises "that Scenes invented, merely to be spoken, should be enforcively published to be read" and asks that the play "be pardoned, for the pleasure it once afforded you, when it was presented with the soul of lively action".

In this session, pupils are encouraged to respond to Shakespeare’s plays as stories to be shared between actor and audience, and to experiment with the sounds and rhythms of Shakespeare’s language. This workshop can support national curriculum study at Key Stage 2 and can be used to augment classroom work on literacy, English and understanding the arts.
