On February 18 1954, Incorporation papers were filed in Los Angeles for the Church of Scientology in California, the first scientologist organization. In 1966, Narconon (also known as Narconon Anonymous) was founded and a year later, the Sea Organization was officially established and later that year, scientology was offered to the public and established the Royal Scotman, the flagship of the Sea Organization. In 1970, the Church of Scientology Celebrity Centre was founded in Los Angeles. 16 years later, Hubbard died and Scientology continues to build and evolve. In the 1970s, Scientology was being investigated by the FBI and its tax exempt status was being questioned by the IRS. In response to this, Scientologists around the world took government jobs to whitewash information on Scientology, which leads people to believe the fact that Scientology owns the IRS. Something I talked about previously was Narconon which is supposedly set up to get addicts off drugs but instead, participants pay lots of money to read L.Ron Hubbard books and would be given high doses of niacin and some participants would be converted to Scientology. There are also several conspiracy theories involving scientology and Clearwater involving Lisa McPherson who was in a car accident and acred erratically and was told she needed psychiatric help but was then picked up by Scientology officials who don't believe in psychiatry. Many churches were bought by Scientology and just given different names so people would join. He has collected stories of confinement, sexual assault and coercion that was not known at the time throughout the churches. Followers of Scientology believed in improving society through instilling a moral and ethical compass into people along with getting them to do something positive to help others in society as an expression of their beliefs religiously. The Church of Scientology also support many humanitarian programs in order to improve the conditions around them, these programs include: the largest non-governmental anti-drug campaign, sponsorship of an international drug rehabilitation and training center, a Scientology Volunteer Ministers program and the largest non-governmental Human Rights public information campaign ON EARTH.
