A Mexican night out of Mexico (teacher Gabi)

I love celebrating my birthday every year with my friends. Last year I decided to have a party that could make us feel like we were in a Mexican Fiesta. I prepared a multicolored decoration with Mexican party garlands hanging from the walls. We had all kinds of spicy food, tasty sauces like guacamole and chili, some crispy nachos and soft tacos. The vibrant music filled the room like dozens of mariachis playing in a melodious Orchestra. We even had a piñata! Hissing sounds cut through the air as my guests hit the round rainbow piñata with a stick, and an explosion of sweet smells of candy hit our noses when the piñata finally broke down. It was an awesome party! I can’t wait for my next birthday.

Family Christmas is a very good thing, even though it is the same thing every year. We never celebrate Christmas Dinner, only Christmas Day, maybe that's because old people wouldn't be in the mood to last through the 25th if they stayed up late, the older ones especially. On Christmas day, it starts very early and starts lighting the fire for the barbecue, the smell of smoke starts there and stays all day and the worst thing is the heat, especially for me when I'm not there taking care of the fire I'm eating nearby, there are many tasty foods but I don't eat anything, for me barbecue is just meat. There's music playing straight away, mainly because my uncle, after 2 beers, if he plays a forró, he dances and runs everywhere, and this is a priceless scene. In the afternoon, we go to the pool, play soccer, while the old people go fishing or sleep. It is a very special date as several distant family members come to celebrate together.

Christmas is the best time of year because the whole family is together, the whole house smells wonderfully of food. At Christmas in my family we don't have supper because we go to bed early, because everyone likes to wake up early on Christmas Day to enjoy it more, we all go to my uncle's house, because it's very big there, there's a barbecue, there's a swimming pool and also for those who like to fish there is a dam.

For our breakfast we eat meat, yes, in the morning we eat meat, before lunch the relatives, uncles, cousins, cousins arrive, everyone, after greeting each other the women gather to start lunch and talk, like tradition I am the official taster, the men are roasting meat on the barbecue.

After lunch is ready we gather by the pool to eat, every year we have roast beef, the best farofa in the world that my great-grandmother makes, rice, salad and other things, after a while of eating we go into the pool, and we only went out to eat the desserts, which is the best part in my opinion, there is pudding, ice cream cake, bis pie and other things. And a tradition is the “amigo da onça”, the game that causes fights and discord in the family for the biggest and most beautiful gift, but it is always a lot of fun. Later in the evening if you get hungry we eat leftovers from lunch.
